Sophie had a couple bites of whole wheat bagel and ate two servings of apricots for breakfast. For lunch she ate ham, crackers, bean & bacon soup, and peas. Every morning one of the first things Sophie asks about is the daily menu! Breakfast, Lunch, snack! And it continues throughout the day!
Momma Molly stopped at the window and Sophie asked Avilene, "You wanna wave at my Sister?" Then she added, "Bubba not have a sister. Avi have a sister." Yes, I said, and she has a brother too. Sophie said, "Name is Peter...Peter Peter Pumpkin eater!" Ha! I was impressed that Sophie remembered Avi's brother! I know Sophie has a Uncle Peter, but she has only met Avi's brother two or three times that I'm aware of. Nice job Sophie.
She was doing some cooking with the brownies, cookies, and cakes today. She said, "It's Dinner time!! Uhhh....no, it's Party Time!!" Ha! Then she added "Slumber Party!" So I asked her, "What's a Slumber Party?" She said, "I don't know" and then as an afterthought she pointed at Avilene and said, "Her Party!." :)
This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon. Sophie was playing with Riley and Sophie was supposed to be napping. So Riley gave her these books and said, "If I give you four books will you go to sleep!?!" Ha!
Sophie was being the Mommy again and said, "Can you sit here with Mommy, Honey!?" I asked, "Who's your Honey?" Sophie pointed at Hudson and Avilene and said, "These guys." Then Sophie said, "Hey guys! Mommy got an owie!!" Ha! They didn't really seem to care about that either!! :) Hudson was happy to sit on the couch with her and read some books - even though now Sophie said she was the "teacher!" This really was cool because this book is one of the "I Spy" books. It shows an object on one page and you find a duplicate on the other page. Sophie was saying, "Find the heart Bubba." Hudson was pointing at one and saying, "heart, heart." Very Good Hudson!!
Sophie had asked me to help her build a "castle." She started to panic when Avilene was reaching for it and said, "AVILLLEEEEN!!!" Hudson started mimicking Sophie and doing all three syllables of Avi's name too. And with the same tone inflection that Sophie was using. Silly kids.

Sophie - 1/30/2017
Sophie ate some bran cereal and dried cranberries for breakfast. Sophie opened her mouth wide to show Avilene her dried cranberry; "See my gum Avi!" Ha! For lunch she ate bites of cheese & canadian bacon pizza, ate corn, and two servings of tropical fruit. At lunch time Sophie was telling me a lengthy story about Christmas time. It kind of went like this; "Christmas at Grandma's...got a bath ..got my jammies....got my binky.. Nora not have a binky...I told Nora I want sleep coming!" :)
This first picture is from several days ago, but I don't think I posted it and it's too cute not to post! Adorable! Sophie was grinning hugely while watching Kenzie bounce on Lauralea's knee. I told Sophie this morning, "You're too cute." She said, "I'm too cute!?!" Haha! "No, you're just right!!" :) We had another amusing conversation after breakfast and she was quizzing me about names; "Is Christina your Mom's name?" No. "What your Mom's name?" June. Christina is my daughter. "Ohhhh...what your Daughter name?" Christina. And I have a Son named David. "Ohhh." She looked at the fish and asked, "What your fish name?" Haha! (There are 3 of those plastic fish.) Uhhh...the first thing that popped in my head was "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abedego." Haha! Sophie said, "Ohhhh....What your penguin name?" Penguin, I don't have a Penguin! She was only slightly annoyed; "NOOO...the PINK one!!??" LOL!!! Oh sorry. I thought you said Penguin! Being partially deaf only makes life that much more amusing to me!! :) And of course the color blind thing added to the humor!! I have no idea which one is pink Sophie! "Ohhh."
Sophie had her bag packed and she and her Baby (Avi) were going someplace. At least Sophie thought they needed to be going someplace! She told me, "My Baby not listen to me!" HaHa! I see that! Your Baby seems to want to do her own thing! You can see Sophie's packed bag in the next picture. In the last picture Sophie has a book tucked under her arm, packing two or three more books, and still carrying her baby's bottle in her left hand. She is getting ready to read to her babies. Speaking of reading - we had the ABC book I got in Alaska (each letter is associated to a place or event in Alaska) and the "I" goes like this; "I" is for an ice worm ice-skating under the Iditarod Trail. Sophie immediately started singing one of My songs she hears frequently, "I did, I did, I did the Iditarod Trail." Nicely done Sophie!!

Sophie - 1/25/2017
Sophie had a couple bites of biscuit and two servings of peaches for breakfast. For lunch she ate two servings of baked beans, ate a couple bites of dinner roll, ate peas, and crushed pineapple.
I only have 3 kids today - until Kenzie and Riley come after school. (Avilene, Sophie, and Nora.) So Avi was Sophie's "Baby" this morning. Avi didn't care; primarily because she didn't do anything "Momma Sophie" was telling her to do! Ha! And believe me, there were LOTS of commands! (Momma Sophie will probably be glad when her more obedient and cooperative child returns! Hudson will usually play along.) Sophie was putting lots of toys in her bag and they were traveling somewhere. She was telling Avi to "Put the cookies in Momma's bag!" Of course Avi took off running across the room with Momma's cookies! Sophie was yelling; "Honey Honey Honey!! I need the cookie in the bag!" I took these pictures when Sophie was baking goodies for the party. Sophie said, "This for Avi's Birthday Party!....ok, it Party Time!....Uhhh Tate not coming." I asked her who was coming? She said, "Kenzie and Riley." Anyone else? With a big grin she said, "TJ." Haha! (Reid's Dad) In the bottom picture Sophie is explaining the rules about the cookies she has made for Avi's birthday party. And there were lots of rules! Avi was listening! (And devising Plan B!! Ha!)
Sophie was regaling me with some great stories this morning. Here is a sampling:
I have no idea what any of this meant: "Mom wrecked my changing table...threw it in the garbage..and a dragon is gonna eat it!" LOL!!
Can we read Christmas books? Sure. So we went to the back room and got some Christmas books. She said, "We were chasing Frosty!" Who? "Mommy...and I was in Mom's belly." Why were you in Mom's belly? "Because I like Mom." Awww...Besides chasing Frosty, what were you doing in Mom's belly? "Playing with Nora." :)
"Take my picture, take my picture!" If I take your picture what will I do with it? "Say cheese!!"
I was changing her diaper, kind of leaning forward, and she stuck her foot on my back. "I'm scratching your back with my foot...does it feel good?...now I'm scratching your shoulder...your hair...your ear." Hmm, and you're not being much help here!! :)

Sophie - 1/24/2017
Sophie ate waffle and hash browns for breakfast. For lunch she ate chicken & cheese quesadilla, bites of carrots, and ate mandarin oranges.
This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon. Kenzie, Riley, Sophie, and Avilene were having a "Birthday Party." Kenzie had just announced that "She's (Avi) eating Birthday Cake and we haven't even sang Happy Birthday to her!!" Ha! Yes, and she's 14 months old and didn't read the rules yet! :) Kenzie was singing "Happy Birthday" when I took this picture and I like how Sophie and Avi are both focused on her. (Notice Sophie is dutifully not touching her cake as it sits on her plate. Ha!)
Sophie was playing with this pop-up toy on Lauralea's lap and telling Lauralea who was going to pop up! "Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, or Goofy." Sophie made a mistake and Lauralea laughed so Sophie continued to make "mistakes" on all of them and wait for Lauralea to laugh!! I love her playfulness and sense of humor!
I had to run an errand (20 minutes) this morning and Lauralea covered for me. She sang with the kids and read books while I was gone. Sophie and Hudson were playing on the couch when I got back and I took this next picture when she was trying to coax Hudson to go off the couch like she was doing. Head-First. She even put a pillow on the floor for a soft landing!! Ha!! Not happening! Good decision Bubba!! And in the last picture Hudson was delivering stuffed animals to Sophie in the igloo as she was asking for them. Not sure what the game was, but it's always fun watching them play together.

Sophie - 1/23/2017
Sophie ate cheerios and banana for breakfast. For Lunch she ate cheese sandwich, drank tomato soup, and ate 3 servings of pickled beets. When I first introduced the pickled beets a few months ago I had to encourage the kids just to lick them or "kiss them goodbye." (Anything to get a touch of the juice on their lips! Ha!) Reid is not here today; he too will eat them, but doesn't like them as much as these three kids do. Speaking of Reid, Sophie held up her hands before breakfast and said, "I didn't touch any toys!" LOL! RIGHT!! (She gets that from Reid when he doesn't want to wash!) She saw me laughing and proudly said, "I made you laugh!" Yes you did!! (It was toy exchange weekend and she touched TONS of toys!!)
Sophie was dancing and wearing 4 tutus when I took this 1st picture. Little cutie! I asked her, "Are you a Sugar"....and I couldn't think of what Momma Molly's U of M dance group was called!! (I said Sugar Daddy, but knew that was wrong! Ha!) So I finally said, "Bear!!" and Sophie started naming every animal she could think of! It was SO cute and funny! "Sugar lion, Sugar deer, Sugar dog, etc." She and Hudson also played on the Mattress and Sophie chased him with a stuffed animal saying, "Momma gonna get you, Momma gonna get you!" He was running for his life! Then he grabbed a spatula Sophie was playing with and took off running again! This time Sophie was chasing him saying, "Bubba! Give me my iPad!! Bubba!! Give me my iPad!!" Ha!
For at least an hour before lunch Sophie was being the "Momma" and Bubba was her victim...ooops, I mean child! :) He actually cooperated real well and even when he needed a break and I had to intervene he quickly went right back to "Momma!!" Ha!! In this next picture Sophie was packing her bag FULL of goodies to "go on Airplane!" She was saying things to Hudson like; "Honey, we're ready...Momma's going.....want Momma carry you!?" Ha! Then she patted the couch and said, "Airplane Bubba...sit!" So he dutifully climbed up there and sat!! She also said, "Listen to me Honey!! 1 2 3 .... COME HERE!!!" LOL! (The old counting trick! Ha!) Then in the last picture she told her Baby to sit on her lap and was using the doll bottle to feed him. It was pretty entertaining and he played along for a LONG time! I was impressed.

Sophie - 1/20/2017
Sophie ate oatmeal and dried cranberries for breakfast. For lunch she ate ground beef, a few whole wheat elbow noodles, ate peas, and applesauce. Sophie was trying to tell me something at Lunch and it sounded foreign. Ha! Is that a movie Sophie? "Yes." Sorry, I know nothing about your movies. Reid came to her rescue; "Well you should know something about our movies!!" Why? "Come to our house and you'll see!!" Ha!!
Right after Lunch today Reid spotted a little spider on the ceiling and pointed it out to Sophie and she showed it to Hudson. Oh man, they were wanting to "get" it! Sophie said, "Bubba, Look at that stinking spider!" (You're welcome. Ha!) Then they had the little drills and were pointing them at the ceiling and Hudson was saying, "Shoot shoot, shoot shoot." :) So after I finished feeding Baby Nora I got the ladder and got the stinking spider! Ok everyone, you can all relax!! :)
I like this first picture - the cousins are reading every day!! (Nice job of getting Sophie's hair parted straight Lauralea!!) There is a cute story behind the last picture! Sophie was wanting Hudson to help her get the Big Bear back over the balance beam and onto the mattress! She was saying, "1 2 3 4 5 6...help me Bubba!" and they were supposed to throw it onto the mattress! Ha! Reid was watching and said, "You need me to help you!" (love that!) So he did. Sophie asked Reid, "Can you help us make a bunkbed Reido?" Ha! He went right over and stacked the 2 bears on top of each other. And apparently that was exactly what she wanted!! Sophie said, "Ok Bubba, I sleep on top, you sleep on bottom." Hudson didn't really want any part of this activity and took off running! Ha! Sophie yells, "Get back here Bubba; it your nap time!!" Haha!
I have a note left over from Wednesday, but it's too cute not to Post! Sophie was talking about sister Nora being sick. And that led into more conversation and it kind of went like this:
"My Sister is sick." So I asked her; "Does your Mom have a Sister?"
"Yes," said Sophie. What's her name? "Katie."
Great! Does Katie have a Sister? Sophie immediately said, "Yes." What's her name? Again the answer the quick; "Peter." Hahaha!! I don't think so. I repeated the question; What is Katie's Sister's name? Sophie took some time to think on it...."Hmmm....Grandma!!" Haha!
Then Reid fired off a question; "What is your Dad's name?" Sophie had an immediate answer; "Uncle Pat!!" Ha!! (I love this "job!") :)

Sophie - 1/18/2017
Sophie ate jelly toast and mangoes for breakfast. For lunch she ate bean, rice, and chicken burrito, ate sweet potatoes, and two servings of tropical fruit.
This first picture is from yesterday afternoon, but it was so cute and sweet when Sophie and Hudson were both loving on Riley. And Riley is definitely a sweetie and very kind to the little ones!
Here's a picture of Hudson dutifully sitting and eating his sandwich as Sophie feeds him! Ha! She'd built quite the sandwich - 8 layers thick and she was feeding him every layer one at a time! :)
Hudson is in the igloo and Sophie kept going behind the igloo and counting; "1 2 3 4 5 6 "....running around and peeking inside and saying, "I find you!!" (That's what the animals say in a little "hide-n-seek book we have.) Avilene was watching the process and grinning all over. Infant and Toddler "Hide-n-Seek" is quite entertaining!! Reid was sitting in the chair observing it all and said to Sophie, "No cheating!!" Ha! I'm not sure what constitutes "cheating" in this game, but he'd spotted something he didn't approve of!!
The story behind this last picture cracks me up!! Sophie was talking on the old flip phone and Reid was trying to tell her it wasn't a "real" phone!! ("Not a leal phone!! That a play phone!") So he asked me if he could use my "leal phone" to illustrate the difference! hahahaha!! He primarily was focused on the size; "This what a leal phone look like!! Now you know what a leal phone is!!" Now it was Sophie's turn to dutifully sit and listen! She was very attentive and said, "oh." Ha!

Sophie - 1/17/2017
Sophie ate cinnamon roll and canned prunes for breakfast. For lunch she ate scrambled eggs, waffle, hash browns, and three servings of melon. We tried a "melorange" similar to cantaloupe and super sweet. All the kids liked it and especially Sophie! :) I frequently move the Baby Saucer into the lunch room if a Baby is awake so they can hang out with us at meal time. (Nora still uses it occasionally, but she has just about grown out of it too.) So at breakfast the saucer was sitting there, Sophie looked at it and said, "Avi live in here." Yes, Avi spent some time in there, but I think it's a stretch to say she lived in there!!! Haha!!
I think I mentioned a few days ago about Sophie thinking she doesn't need to wash before eating. Well she gets it from Reid and here's what he said this morning. I told him; "Reid you need to wash your hands." He responded with, "Are you kidding me!!??!!" Ha! No. :)
Pictures 1 and 2 kind of go together and pictures 2 and 3 kind of go together. :) Sophie had two sandwiches all made and setting on the plates. (Picture 2) I asked her; "Can Hudson have lunch with you?" She said, "No." Why not? "Because it dinner." Of course. What was I thinking? "Ok, can Hudson have dinner with you?" She said, "No." Hmmm...Right then Reid asked Sophie, "Can I have some?" She said, "Yes." Ok, now I see. She then scooted over closer to Reid. It was so cute. :)
However, she did read books to Hudson even though he wasn't allowed to eat!! Ha!! He loves it when she reads to him! Then a few minutes later Sophie moved to the arm of the couch (bottom picture) and said, "Bubba! Come sit on my lap!" He headed right over there, but sat beside her. Good choice Hudson. (I wasn't going to let him sit on her lap anyhow perched on the edge of disaster!) Hudson and Sophie also spent lots of time going down the slide. Well actually it was Hudson going down the slide and Sophie "catching" him at the bottom. :)

Sophie - 1/12/2017
Sophie ate three servings of cinnamon toast and most of her apple bites for breakfast. For lunch she ate most of baked chicken and dinner roll, she ate two servings of hash browns, and ate cherries. At the lunch table she said (to me), "I'm beauty and you're (point at me) the beast." LOL I roared! That's what I deserve after "teaching" her that yesterday! :) Her memory is too sharp!!
She was looking in the garbage while washing for breakfast and asked, "What is that?" "That is lint from the dryer." She said, "Oh, lint - not hair?" LOL!! "Nope, that is not hair! That would be quite the wad of hair!"
Speaking of memory - she said something about the color "purple" and I did the sign for purple. She said, "then you throw it!?" Yup, you throw it. That's how I always describe the difference between the sign for pink and purple. "Do the sign for pink and throw it for purple." And she remembers.
In this first picture Hudson was going down the slide over and over and Avi and Sophie were keeping a close eye on him! This has been one of his favorite activities for this week. (This slide flips over and there are steps on the other side.) Sophie always tries to flip the slide or steps over - she knows the process, but isn't quite strong enough to make it happen!
I took this picture at Art Time this morning. Golf Ball Art is a bit slow, but Sophie was patiently waiting for her turn. (I had chicken baking in the other pan that I use for art!! So it was one pan at a time during Art this morning!) Hudson and Avilene were watching and it won't be long until they will know what to do. Hudson didn't want to touch the pan today and this is a good way to get him familiar with what we're doing. The little ones watched for at least 10 minutes before they got bored.

Sophie - 1/11/2017
Sophie had bites of whole wheat bagel and ate two servings of peaches. For lunch she ate half of her ham, ate whole wheat elbow noodles, corn, and apple bites.
Sophie was having a very animated conversation on the phone this morning. Then she looked at me and said, "Going to a meeting." Oh, who are you meeting? "A friend." What are you going to do? "Going to dinner, paint our nails, and dance." :) So stinking cute!!
I took this picture when Lauralea was reading stories to the kids this morning just before she had to leave. Sophie wanted the usually games as well! "walk walk" and "Boston."
Initially Avilene was perched on the yellow bench by herself, but then Hudson joined her and Sophie brought some dress-up clothes to put on Avi. In the picture below she's trying to get a vest on Avi's arm. Sophie was getting frustrated because Avi is not inclined to sit still!! "Aveeeeeee! Sit there!!" Sophie soon gave up on that task!! (wise decision!) I like how one of Hudson's butt cheeks is teetering on the edge of the bench!!
I hooked the two tunnels together for the kids to crawl through this morning.

Sophie - 1/10/2017
Sophie ate two servings of waffle and ate pears for breakfast. For lunch she ate tuna & crackers, two servings of sweet potatoes, and ate mandarin oranges.
After Lunch time and before Nap Time Sophie was saying, "Knock knock!" Reid said, "Who's there?" Sophie said, "No! I play it!!" Ha!! But then she did let Reid join the game and they were saying the most random things! It was very funny!!
Here's a picture of what is usually a daily event. Sophie reading books to Bubba. Or Reid sharing books with Sophie. Hudson and Sophie both love to read books and I love it. About 3 times they got off the step and went to the book rack for more books. Then back to the step to read. Later Sophie took a pile to Reid for him to read to her. He looked at all of her books and said, "I don't want to read ALL of these! I just want to read a few." So he read a few to her and Hudson and said, "That was hard work!!" Ha! Yes Reid, I'll bet you're just exhausted!!
Sophie was wearing a vest (dress-up clothes) and Hudson wanted dress-up clothes too, but he just threw his over his head. (Way quicker to do that!!) Sophie was looking at his style and telling him that just wasn't how to do it!! She frequently offers Hudson LOTS of unsolicited advice! Ha!!

Sophie - 1/9/2017
Sophie ate most of chex cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast. For lunch she ate half of pulled pork sandwich, drank tomato soup, and ate two servings of pickled beets. Sophie likes to get bibs at meal times for Hudson and Avi. Hudson frequently doesn't appreciate her help (ha!) and I told her I'd take care of Hudson. Sophie said, "I'll take care of Avi!" :) Then at Lunch time Sophie came out (after playing with toys steady for 2 hours) and said, "I didn't touch any toys!" (Holding her hands out to show me how clean they are!) LOL! Oh man, I roared! She got that from Reido who is always trying to tell me why he doesn't need to wash his hands before he eats!! (Except he's not here today.)
We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and I took this picture when Sophie was playing with the food toys!! Avi went over to where Sophie was at and was checking out Sophie's food display! Hudson came over to show Sophie a book and that was a perfect distraction so Avi could move in! Sophie's favorite high-pitched squeal this morning: AVEEEEEEEE....... AVEEEEEEEE!! Actually Avi was doing quite well I thought!! Sophie was way more worried about what Avi might do instead of seeing what Avi was actually doing!! As soon as Sophie would yell Avi would flee the scene!! Ha!! (with empty hands!)
Sophie looked at lots of books in this toy exchange and lined some up along the top of the couch. We read books at Story Time as well. Sophie also played with legos, dolls, and phones. A few years back Reid's Mom worked for AT&T and supplied me with LOTS of discarded flip phones for the kids to play with. When Sophie saw this toy exchange this morning she said, "Where's blue phone?!?" I knew which one she meant, but I was surprised she remembered it!! Sure enough later in the morning she found it way at the back of a toy shelf!! (She hasn't seen this toy exchange for 16 weeks!!)
One of the kids (or I) will always mention when the mail arrives. These three went to the window to watch. (Reid is not here today.) When I took this picture Hudson and Avi were looking at Sophie and she apparently has a toy in here mouth.

Sophie - 1/6/2017
Sophie ate oatmeal and two servings of canned prunes for breakfast. For lunch she ate two servings of hash brown casserole, bite of biscuit, and two servings of mandarin oranges.
Tuesday afternoon Reid, Sophie, and I were having a discussion about their favorite foods and snacks. What's your favorite food Reid? I was totally expecting to hear elbow noodles!! He said, "I don't really like food; I like hoda!!" (Soda) Hahahaha!! What's your favorite food Sophie? "Apple." What's your favorite snack Reid? "Granola bar - chocolate on one side and peanut butter on the other side." What's your favorite snack Sophie? LOVED her answer; "gum." LOL!!
Sophie was looking at the picture of the Baby Cheetah again and Reid was once again saying he could run faster than the cheetah! Earlier he'd said he could run "100 mph!" The 2nd time he admitted he could only go that fast under certain conditions! Primary qualification; "if I eat 30 pounds of pizza!!" LOL!
Ok, I can't help myself! I have to post another picture of Sophie with a monster case of static electricity! This delighted me almost as much as it did Reid!! Ha! Reid's mouth fell open and he said, "OH WOW!!" Then he yelled at me; "Look Gary!! It flying again!!" Then Reid said to Sophie, "Look behind your head!!" Haha! And she certainly tried - whipping her head back-n-forth trying to look behind her head!! Here's a piece of what I posted on Hudson's Blog so you'll know it's not just affecting Sophie!! There is a lot more static electricity during these winter months (you can google that - ha!) and it's super prevalent on the couch in the daycare room. Bubba got up on the couch and touched my arm and we got zapped pretty significantly. He looked surprised and then looked very accusingly at me! Haha!
Love this 2nd picture. Think about how much Sophie loves books! She'd been asking for me to read Special Books and I kept telling her I would very soon! I noticed she was looking pretty longingly at the special books up high on their special book rack! Ha!!

Sophie - 1/3/2017
Sophie had several bites of whole wheat bagel and two servings of apricots for breakfast. For lunch she ate chicken, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and two servings of applesauce.
Sophie immediately noticed (of course) the new calendar. It has baby animal pictures for every month and January is a baby cheetah. So we were talking about cheetahs and Reid informed us, of course, that he could run faster than a cheetah! At lunch Reid was inhaling elbow noodles (his favorite) and said, "I eat it like a cheetah!" :)
We sang songs, read books, and did some sign language. I'm impressed with how well Sophie remembers the signs. Reid wanted to do some "shapes" and Sophie watched intently while we were doing those too.
Sophie was playing with the food toys and had her plate full of food. She sat the plate on the floor and Avilene laid her foot right on the plate. Oops! That was not well received or appreciated!! Ha! Earlier Avilene was putting shapes in the shape sorter and Sophie decided Avi needed some help and started pointing at which hole for Avilene to put the shape.
I took this picture of Sophie and Hudson sharing a blanket on the couch. What are you guys doing? "Watching a movie!" Sophie said. Where is the movie? They both pointed across the room. From the expression on Sophie's face I'm guessing it's a sad movie. :) Actually they'd been doing pretty well sharing the blanket, but shortly after this picture it all went south pretty quickly! Ha!
I know I recently posted a picture of Sophie when the static electricity was making her hair go in all directions. But it always makes me laugh! Reid saw this and he was just staring at her! LOL! Finally Reid said, "Oh WOW!! It is flying!!"
