Sophie - 5/31/2017

Sophie ate two servings of french toast and ate strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bite of salmon patty, bites of whole wheat dinner roll, no squash, and ate three servings of tropical fruit.

This is just an FYI for all the Daycare Families:  Tomorrow, June 1st, a new girl is starting at Little Treasures.  Her name is Atley and she is one month younger than Avilene.  So it's going to be a bit busy around here - at least until the end of the school year.  Then the Cline girls have different activities planned for the summer.  And Reid will be "very part time" until he starts Preschool the first of September.  A different child always changes the dynamics of the daycare somewhat so I'm just letting you all know the Blogs may run a bit later than they have been.

Sophie saw I was changing Avi's poopy diaper and she climbed to see what that was about.  She asked, "Is it corn on the cob poop!?!"  LOL!  I'm sorry, but that was funny and made me laugh!  Silly Sophie!

We read books, did some coloring with markers on coffee filters, and played outside, but I think the pictures below depict the favorite activity of the day!  Hudson started putting a shirt over his head and trying to jam his head in the sleeve hole and that kind of started the silliness for the day.  In the first picture Sophie had the shorts over her head and started dancing.  :)  Then she was peeking out to see if anyone was watching!

Avi made it to the blue balance beam and was thinking about standing up, but decided that's still a bit too scary!!  (I like the headband with a shirt draped around Avi's neck.)  I also like how Sophie is keeping a very close and concerned eye on Avi's progress!  Sophie is almost always the "little Mommy" - concerned about the welfare of the other kids.

Sophie - 5/30/2017

Sophie ate lots of toasted whole wheat english muffin and ate grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate her pork chop bites, whole wheat toast, bite of her toasted vegetables (beets, sweet potatoes, red potatoes), and two servings of applesauce.

Sophie was putting on dress-up clothes and telling me, "I'm going to work."  Oh, where do you work now?  She said, "At Daddy's office.  My office - next to Daddy's office."  What do you do in your office?  She said "Work on my computer."  Hmm..I wonder what kind of work you're doing on your computer?  She said, "Just watch movies and play games."  Haha!  LOL!!  I knew it!!

We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend so the kids were busy all morning.  I took a couple pictures and in this first picture Sophie is using a new phone and has a stack of books ready for us to use at Story Time.  In the following 2 pictures Sophie was putting on some more dress-up things; kind of a sports theme.  I thought the picture of her jumping was cute even though it's a bit blurry.

I took this last picture when Sophie and Bubba were playing on the toy shelves.  Even though you don't see it in the picture Hudson was laughing so hard!  Not so sure what that was about - But I think it had to do with Sophie peeking over the edge.  She was telling him to wake up and he was saying, "It not morning time; I already sleeping."  :)

Sophie - 5/25/2017

Sophie had a bite of whole wheat bagel and ate peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of the pizza we made ("we" means Lauralea).  Whole wheat pizza crust, hamburger & sausage, tomato sauce, mushrooms, olives, peppers, and two servings of pineapple.

This first picture is from yesterday afternoon when Hudson and Sophie were playing on the little teeter-totter.  Hudson was giggling the entire time; obviously enjoying himself.  Here's another note from yesterday that's about Hudson, not Sophie, but you might enjoy it as well:   Hudson saw that I'd posted the Dot Painting Art on the side of the freezer and he asked, "Are you gonna tell Maddy!?!"

Lauralea was taking turns doing "walk walk, trot trot...." with the kids this morning.  In this last picture I like how they are all watching and waiting for their turn.  You can also see in the picture that Lauralea has fixed ponytails in Avi and Sophie's hair.  (Baby Nora got her first ponytails this morning as well!  Soon after I took this picture!)

Sophie was wearing dress-up clothes - dancing (see picture below!) and doing her full repertoire of dramatic play.  Here's a snippet from her adventure to the airport:  "I'm gonna go to the airport...Gonna watch my favorite movie Utopia....Then my parents gonna pick me up at the airport...So see ya!!!"  Haha!  See Ya Sophie!!

Sophie - 5/24/2017

Sophie ate two servings of whole wheat toast and ate grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she had a bite of pork roast, ate toasted rye bread, no vegetables - sweet potatoes, carrots, red potatoes, brussel sprouts - and ate LOTS of fruit salad.  Hudson was a little slow in coming this morning;  Before Hudson arrived Sophie asked, "When is Bubba coming?"  Reid said, "He already here; you just can't see him."  Ha!  What a goof!

This first picture is from yesterday afternoon.  Sophie was sitting on this scooter backwards and the back of the seat is her "iPad."  She was poking "numbers" and saying things like; "You be the Mommy (to Lauralea), I'll work on my iPad and you come in my room."  I have a couple more notes from yesterday; Tate walked over to get Reid and Sophie said, "Tate don't remember how to drive a car."  She was puzzled why they were walking when everyone drives here!!  At Snack yesterday Sophie had asked for a 2nd serving of dried cranberries.  Reid was teasing and held out his arm in front of her saying, "No no no, they're horrible!!"  Ha!  (As he's devouring a huge pile of them.)

Sophie and Avilene were playing in the swivel/rocker chair when I took this picture.  Here's what I like about it: Sophie is focused on the mirror and Avi is straining to get this sucker rocking!!  That's quite typical!!  In the last picture Avi, Sophie, and Bubba were all "standing" on their heads.  I like how Sophie and Avi are holding their arms in the air.

Sophie - 5/23/2017

Sophie ate toasted whole wheat english muffin and dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch - maybe a couple bites of stir fry chicken and vegetables, couple bites of brown rice, and ate oranges.  Hudson was repeating something over and over at breakfast and Sophie sweetly said, "We heard that Bubba."  Thank you Sophie.

I have a note from yesterday afternoon.  We were preparing to go outside after snack and I was putting food stuff away and cleaning up the lunch room.  Sophie said she was going to clean up the Daycare room.  Kenzie, Riley, and Reid were already playing outside and I was watching them through the window on the storm door.  She asked Hudson to help her and I think he primarily put legos away.  She cleaned up the ENTIRE Daycare Room and did an awesome job!  I was shocked!! So now you know what she's capable of doing!!

Sophie showed me her earrings and said, "Look Gary, I have purple earrings!  These are my favorite color!"  So I asked her if they were from the "Boyle Collection."  She said, "No, from Rockin Rudy's."  LOL!  Oh, that hit my funny bone!

Sophie had a doll with her blanket this morning and that was her "honey" for awhile.  I asked her, "Where's your honey?"  And she pointed to the doll.  Hudson said, "Here."  Pointing to himself!  Haha!  That was pretty cute.  He really does enjoy playing that game with her.  Sophie has been using the trays (see in the last picture) as her "skis" and she's been trying to get Hudson to play that game too.

Sophie - 5/22/2017

Sophie ate most of cheerios and banana for breakfast.  For lunch; from the taco salad she ate tomatoes, no ground beef, no lettuce or olives, she ate avocados, no pita bread, and ate two servings of cantaloupe.

Sophie and Hudson were playing together with Sophie calling him "honey" for a long time.  That's what she calls him when she wants him to be her "baby."  She's the Mommy of course and spends a LOT of time bossing him around!  "Hey Honey! You're my Honey! I don't have a book today because we're running late!"  Late to what!  "Going to music class!"  After breakfast she was sitting in the chair and said she was waiting for "honey" to finish eating.  Haha!

Then she was jumping on the mattress and told Hudson; "Hudson! Big jumps are for big kids!"  Ha! (She rarely calls him Hudson!)  Then she jumped again and said, "Hey Gary!  I did a somersault and I didn't break my neck!!  How bout I try another one!?!"  Silly Sophie!!

Here are some pictures from this morning's activities:  We also read books and Sophie asked me; "Hey Gary, are these prairie dogs?"  They sure are!  Good remembering Sophie!   She's very interested in the animals and remembers lots about them.

The kids had fun playing outside this morning.  Hudson and Sophie got excited when they saw and heard a helicopter!!  Sophie and Hudson were saying, "Helicopter Helicopter!!!"  Then Sophie said,   "I waved at him, but he didn't stop!!"  Ha!!  Sophie and Hudson were playing in one of the play houses.  They frequently use that house for making and serving ice cream.  Sophie was trying to get Hudson to serve her some mint ice cream.  :)

Sophie - 5/19/2017

Sophie had bites of brown rice and ate raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bite of salmon, ate dinner roll, two servings of corn, and two servings of mangoes.  Before lunch she was at the sink getting soap to wash and she said, "I got soap!"  Read said, "You're not surprised!!"  (I'm sure he meant to say, "I'm not surprised!!"  Haha)

Lauralea had some extra time so she was fixing the girl's hair this morning!  Thank you Lauralea!  It's fun to watch the "master hair fixer" at work!!  Lauralea said, "I just love little girl's hair!"  She's had many years of practice!  And she makes it look easy!!  In this 1st picture I love how Sophie is focused on what Lauralea is doing!!  After Lauralea was done with Riley's french-braid Reid wanted a hug and he called it a "group hug."  I absolutely LOVE Sophie's expression as she watches the group hug!  Isn't that adorable?  Lauralea and I have always said "it's a special kid that can get enjoyment from watching other's have a good time!"  And I've included the 3rd picture as proof of my "master hair fixer" comment!!  Nicely done Lauralea!!

In the last picture the kids are watching a "battery powered" hamster that Riley brought with her today.  For those that don't know - Riley is here because it's "Kindergarten Roundup" at her school so the present Kindergarten Class gets a day off!  Sophie had a fun time following Riley around!  In Bubba's journal I said that Bubba had the day off because Sophie was preoccupied with Riley!!

Sophie - 5/18/2017

Sophie ate toasted whole wheat english muffins and two servings of oranges for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of chicken with cabbage combo, bites of whole grain tortillas, and most of baked apple with cinnamon.

It was a fun morning and everyone was happy that Baby Nora was back from her Denver Trip.  Sophie was playing with the dress-up clothes and was wearing 3 or 4 tutus.  She was struggling to get them off and Reid assisted her.  After they got the tutus off Reid admonished her; "Now don't put on more than 1!!"  Haha!

Sophie was singing "Happy Birthday" and finally said to me, "Hey!!  You're not helping me sing Happy Birthday!!"  Geez, sometimes I get in trouble FOR helping and sometimes I get in trouble for NOT helping!  (I am so NOT a mind reader!!  Hahaha!)  Then she was talking about going to a park and she worked hard at helping me understand WHO she was talking about!  "We didn't go to the park with my music class friends."

Here are two pictures from this morning's activities.  All 5 of the kids were on the mattress while  Sophie and Bubba were practicing synchronized gymnastics!  Ha!!  Right after this first picture Sophie said, "Gary we want some music; ok everybody line up!!"  Hudson was the only follower! :)  So Hudson and Sophie "lined up" in front of the mirror and Sophie said, "Ok Bubba!  Now do what I do and DANCE!!"  Haha!  And Hudson was trying very hard to be a good dance student!!  (With a "teacher" who yells and doesn't give a lot of accolades!!  Haha!)  In the last picture Sophie and Bubba were strategizing some kind of operation, but it was inside information only!!  :)

Sophie - 5/16/2017

Sophie ate toasted rye bread and a few grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground burger, some whole wheat elbow noodles, half of her peas, and ate applesauce.  When she was eating breakfast she was telling me about Andi being at her house last night.  I said, "Avi's Dad was at your house last night?!?"  She said, "Andi is not a boy!! Silly Gary!!"  Haha!  Then at Lunch time she said (and I'm not sure what triggered this - Ha!), "Gary, Mommy doesn't want me to say butt."  Ok, I can respect that.  So what shall we call it?  She said, "Butt-cheek."  Oh man I roared!!  (And she was grinning so impishly before I even started laughing!!)

Avilene and Sophie were playing the xylophones and Sophie was singing, "Mousey mousy in the housey."  I asked her, "Do you have that song at home?  Did you learn it at home?"  She said, "No, In music class."  A few minutes later they were playing at the sink with the food toys - cakes, cookies, and brownies in this food set.  Sophie said, "Gary, I have to go poop.  My brownies and cookies are cooking.  Can you keep an eye on them so Avi doesn't steal them."  Ha!  ok.

Sophie was leaning over backwards and plopping on the mattress.  In the last picture Lauralea was singing a song for Sophie using the "rabbit puppet."

Sophie - 5/15/2017

Sophie ate bites of breakfast: kix cereal and mixed fruit.  For lunch she ate a couple bites of pork roast, ate crackers, bite of carrots, and ate her cherries.

I have a note leftover from last week.  We were playing outside and I was showing the kids a big (not too big, but probably more than an inch long.) ugly beetle on the patio.  Sophie didn't like it and was kind of freaking out (staring to scream), Reid said, "kill it already!!" and Avilene went over to look at it and slightly pushed on it's head.  Cracked me up.

We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and Sophie and Avilene played with the pop-up toys a lot!  When I took this first picture Sophie was saying, "I'm popping these up for Avilene to push down."  (By the way, Sophie and Avilene are the only 2 kids here until the Cline girls come after School.)

We read lots of books and then did some painting at Art Time.  They started with brushes, but soon switched to hand painting.  Speaking of books, one of the books we read is titled; "The Way I Feel." I was asking Sophie to identify the feelings by looking at the faces.  She was doing so well with it I asked if she had the book at home.  She said, "No."  :)

I love this last picture: lots of artistic expression here!!  :)  She was instructing Avilene and I to watch her dance; "Just watch....And then you can clap when I bow."  What a cutie!!  I was being silly with her and later she said, "How about you call me Piglet and Eyeore again!?!"  Ok, I can do that!!  :)

Sophie - 5/12/2017

Sophie ate oatmeal and baked apples with cinnamon for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of hamburger stew (with meat, carrots, green beans, potatoes, and brussel sprouts), ate dinner roll, and two servings of apricots.  Sophie was giggling at breakfast listening to Reid regaling us with his amazing ability to "snarf huge amounts of candy corn in such a short amount of time."  :)

Here's a picture of "Little Miss Cuteness" watching herself in the mirror!!  Sophie was here early and it was awesome!!  :)  About 45 minutes of one-on-one time with Sophie!  That was a blessing for me! And I think she kind of liked it as well.

Reid and Sophie were building this block structure you see in the picture below.  I asked them why they were building it to block traffic from one side of the room to the other side?  Reid said, "To trap them over there!"  Who are them!?!  :)  (Of course I already knew the answer!)  Reid said, "Bubba, Nora, and Avilene!" Well at least it worked on one of them; Avi, but only because she's not here today!!  Haha!  I like the serious posture and look on their faces in the picture.

Sophie and Bubba were playing together for the longest time and Sophie was the "Mommy" and she had an endless string of instructions for Bubba!!  Haha!  It sounded something like this:
"Honey, You need a nap before music class!!"
"Honey, you wanna sleep in our room!?!"
"Honey, you wanna......?"
"Honey, you need to.......!!"
"Honey......Honey.....Honey.....!!!!!!"
"Bye Honey!!!"......"Why you not say bye to me Honey!?!?"
This is just my opinion: But "Honey" kind of appeared to be in a trance or slightly traumatized!!  Ha! Just kidding!  I think he was enjoying it....maybe.  :)  So here's a picture and you can come to your own conclusion!  :)

Sophie - 5/10/2017

Sophie had bites of whole wheat toast and two servings of mangoes for breakfast.  For lunch she had a few bites of whole wheat spaghetti noodles topped with hamburger and spaghetti sauce, no squash, and ate two large servings of fruit salad.  (with bananas, grapes, apple, mangoes, strawberries, oranges)  As you already know Sophie is forever asking me; "Gary, what are we having for lunch!?!"  And breakfast, and snack, over and over.........This morning Reid answered her again with one of his favorite responses: "You don't want to know!!"  That always cracks me up!

A few minutes after Sophie arrived this morning she asked, "Where's Lauralea?"  I told her that Lauralea was taking a shower.  Sophie said, "I have to go potty."  LOL!  Yes, of course you do!  Little stinker!  So we walked down there and I let Lauralea tell Sophie that it would be a couple more minutes!!  :)

This first picture is from yesterday afternoon when Sophie and Avilene were experimenting with the teeter-totter outside.  Two cuties!!  Speaking of outside, it was so fun to watch Sophie's response when Emily (Nora's Mommy) arrived.  Sophie really likes Emily and she ran down the sidewalk to greet her and said, "Nora's here."  Ha!

Reid and Sophie were so cute playing together this morning!  I realize I haven't posted a picture of these two hanging out together for a long time!!  Sophie is usually too busy playing with Bubba and bossing him around and Reid has been busy doing his own thing!  They were just sitting here talking and then they started shaking hands when I took this picture!  No idea what kind of pact they were making!  Ha!

Sophie - 5/9/2017

Sophie had bites of whole wheat bagel (toasted and buttered) and ate lots of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate two servings of shrimp, bites of brown rice, tasted the stir fry vegetables, and ate the mixed berries.

Here's a leftover note from yesterday about Hudson.  (He's not here today!)  Hudson kept lifting up his shirt and Sophie said, "Bubba!! Don't pull your shirt up!!  Me and Riley don't like it!!"  Which made me laugh because Riley wasn't even here at the time.  Ha!  But last week Riley was getting on Bubba's case for doing the same thing and Sophie obviously remembered!  Sophie needed some help; "Gary, Bubba not listen to me and pull his shirt up!!"  :)

During Story Time Reid arrived and he was talking about catching a "rainbow trout" yesterday.  Sophie said, "Bonnie got my fishing pole."  Who is Bonnie?  "Tom's wife."  LOL!  That's not helpful. Who is Tom?  Sophie gets the cutest impish grin and said; "Bonnie's wife."  Ha!  Then she added, "Dog is Bailey."  She was on the couch and then she rolled over, put the pillow over her head and said, "Ok, I'm sleeping, be quiet."  :)

Here are some pictures from this morning's activities.  Sophie asks for puzzle time every day - sometimes 2 or 3 times.  And of course there is always dress-up time - sometimes with clothes and sometimes with blankets!  In the 3rd picture Sophie had on a mask and was kind of lunging forward at Nora and Nora was squealing and laughing.  Nora has that kind of slapstick humor and enjoys the silliest things!  Then in the last picture Sophie was watching Avilene mess around with the masks too.

Sophie - 5/8/2017

Sophie ate some breakfast: bran cereal and raisins.  For lunch she ate chicken salad with lettuce (ate no lettuce), tomatoes (ate them), cucumbers (bite), peppers (ate them), and olives (ate them), she had bites of pita bread, and ate LOTS of pears.

Sophie asked, "Can we do Hickity Pickity?"  I said, Yes and Sophie said, "Oh, I'm so excited!!" Hudson picked right up on that and said, "Hey Gary, what your name?!  Hey Avi, what your name!?  Hey Sophie, what your name!?"  Sophie, always trying to stay a jump ahead of Cousin Bubba said, "It start with S."  Haha!  (Hudson's questions showed that he totally knows exactly how the Hickity Pickity game goes!)

I love these pictures because everyone that was here was on the mattress.  Sophie said, "Hey Gary!!  I did a butt bomb, Bubba did a butt bomb, Avi did a butt bomb!!"  What is a butt bomb?  Thank you for asking!!  (I'm aware that most of you already know this, but.....) Reid's brother, Bode, is the one who started the "butt bomb craze" and it's when they jump, shoot their legs straight out, and land on their bottom!  Voila - there's a butt bomb!!  So I'm calling these pictures: #ButtBomb!!  (So creative!)  Ha!

I told the kids to go to the window and see what sweet neighbors we have!!  They have 7 wonderful children (seriously) and here's one of their college-aged kids mowing over on our side of the lawn!  Thank you Austin!  And then he brought a broom and swept the grass off our parking spot.  As usual, Austin goes above and beyond!!  He really is a great example of a quality young man!  We got his attention and the kids were waving their appreciation.

Wednesday, May 3, 2017

Sophie - 5/3/2017

Sophie had bites of french toast and ate strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of salmon patty, no whole wheat dinner roll, no squash, and ate LOTS of tropical fruit.  I mentioned at breakfast that Hudson's Mom & Dad were coming home today.  Sophie said, "My Mom and Dad never in a different town."  :)  Then Sophie was saying, "I'm going to Meadow Farm tomorrow and get apples for my house."  Hudson said, "I wanna come with you."

Sophie was asking for Special Books when I took this picture.  She said, "I want the fox book Gary." There is more than one story that has a fox in it so I asked her; "What does the fox do?"  She said, "He put the piggy in the dinner bowl."  Ok, I know which one you're asking for!!  That was a great explanation Sophie.  :)

These next 2 pictures represent a cute sequence that Sophie and Hudson were playing.  Sophie kept saying, "Ok Bubba, you gotta close your eyes."  So he'd close his eyes and she'd close her eyes as well.  Then she'd sit up and say, "Ok Bubba, wake up!"  We also read lots of books, sang songs and did some "golf ball" art.

Tuesday, May 2, 2017

Sophie - 5/2/2017

Sophie ate most of whole wheat english muffin and two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of pork chops, ate whole wheat toast, bites of red potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnips, and ate applesauce.  I've got the radio tuned to the correct station so if I can just remember at 4:00 to turn it on!!  Ha!  Kenzie will help me remember!!

I love it when Lauralea is still here in the mornings - the children love seeing her, having her read books to them, and I really like it when she fixes Sophie's hair!!  Ha!  I kind of like doing it as well, but Lauralea can get it SO much tighter and neater!!  Sophie asked Lauralea; "Were you looking for me last night?  I was with my Parents."  I think that's so cute - she frequently uses that word; "parents."  Lauralea was probably only a couple steps out the door this morning when Sophie said, "I miss Lauralea."  :)

We read lots of books, sang songs, and did some Dot Painting at Art Time.  And here are a couple pictures from Sophie and Hudson playing this morning:  Hudson had 2 or 3 masks wrapped around his neck and the harder Sophie tried to get them off the tighter the masks got!  So I helped out with that one!  And the last picture is just Sophie and Hudson hanging around being silly.

Sophie was being a big helper this morning by keeping a close eye on runny noses and sniffing for poopy diapers!!  Ha!!  (All on her own initiative - I hadn't asked for her to help.)  "Gary, Avi have a runny nose...Gary, Avi poopy.....Gary, Bubba poopy.....Gary, Nora have runny nose....."  Thanks for all your help Sophie!
