Sophie - 11/30/2015

Sophie ate bran cereal and dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate homemade cheese pizza, ate corn, and tropical fruit.

Sophie had an awesome morning and seemed glad to be back in her routine.  Here's the first three things we have to do every day and in this order; 1) Wake up the fish (tickle them and pretend they bite me).  2) Wave at Daddy.  3) Have Lauralea fix her hair.  Then she's ready to start playing.  Only one minor glitch this morning when the Mailman walked past the big window to put a package on the porch..."I don't know who that is and I'm gonna howl!"  (for 20 seconds)  :)

She read a book or maybe two during Story Time and then got down and started playing with the dress-up clothes.  She was draping shirts over her head and managed to get one shoe on as well!  She also did stickers at Art Time.  I said, "Yeah Sophie!"  And she was raising both arms in the air like she was signaling a touchdown.  :)

Sophie was studying this poster for at least a minute or two (time enough for me to get the camera and take a picture) and she was saying to the child, "Hi hi hi."  :)  The child is watching the Daddy give their puppy a bath.

Sophie was watching Reid and Cooper send their cars down the slide and land in the legos drawer.  I showed her how to do it, but she decided to skip one step and just toss the cars in the drawer.  She was being very efficient.  :)

Sophie - 11/23/2015

Sophie ate cheerios and two servings of banana for breakfast.  For lunch she ate her cheese sandwich, but wasn't interested in tomato soup or lettuce salad.

During Story Time Sophie grabbed the shape sorter with the "green" shapes (Cooper's favorite!) and took off to the other side of the room.  She was totally watching Cooper the entire time!  :)  Little Stinker!  She then tried a couple other similar maneuvers to see if she could get a reaction out of him. (Like grabbing different toys and running.)

Here's a picture I took last Friday when Sophie wasn't here and I thought you might all enjoy this.  Tate lugged his Tuba to our house after school and wanted to play for everyone.  So here's what a one-boy-band-concert looked like at Little Treasures on Friday.  Notice where Kenzie is sitting in this picture.  Also, I'm not sure if Reid had intentionally covered his ear(s).  :)

Reid and Cooper were playing under the blanket again and Sophie was totally interested in what they were doing.  She kept circling back-n-forth around the end and side of the mattress, but she has the good sense not to crawl under there!!  :)  The boys were asking questions like; "Can you see us?"  "Can you see my face now?"

Sophie is still peeking under the blanket trying to see Reid.  Cooper came out and said, "I can't see where I'm going under there!!"

Sophie - 11/19/2015

Sophie had dance class this morning and arrived shortly before lunch.  She ate all of her lunch: turkey slice, sandwich thin, green beans, and strawberries.

She did a little bit of coloring with markers on a coffee filter when she first arrived.  Then I sprayed water on it to make the colors run a bit and let it dry.  When she went to the big play room Reid and Cooper were asking for the Panda Bear and Big Bear - which were in the back store room.  Sophie knew exactly what they wanted and joined in by pointing and saying, "bay-a, bay-a"  (bear, bear - just in case you need a translation!!  Ha!)

After lunch she was in the play room and I was getting everyone settled in for their naps.  She had pooped and was letting me know about it!  She was grabbing her poopy diaper and heading for the changing table telling me all about it!!  Nice job of letting me know Sophie!!!  And that's what I call the beginning stage of "potty training!"  (Awareness.)

Sophie - 11/18/2015

Sophie ate jelly toast and two servings of mangoes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate beef & bean burrito, most of sweet potatoes, and ate tropical fruit.

Sophie was on the mattress yelling for Cooper's attention.  Cooper was on the couch looking at his truck and tractor books.  He said, "Sophie's bugging me so much."  Doing what; how is she bugging you?  "She's bugging me when she was....uhhhhh, I saw her bugging me!"  LOL  Ok, well I'm right here ready to intervene Cooper if it gets too serious.  :)

This picture is from yesterday afternoon and she was so cute looking and reaching into the holes.  I went to see what she was after and there was nothing in there.  :)  Of course I wanted a picture of her doing that, but I had to stage the picture.  So I planted some "seed" in there to get her searching again.   Thank you Sophie!  :)

Hey, you can never have too many pictures of kids bending over peeking into things right!?  :)  Cooper and Reid were in the igloo and she could hear them being silly in there.

Cooper was getting the three buckets of shapes - each bucket a different color.  He said, "I'm showing Sophie how to do the shapes; it's my job to get the green ones!"  Of course Sophie was trying to put the wrong color in the wrong container or put legos pieces in the containers.  :)  Cooper said, "Now don't get the wrong ones Soph!!"

Sophie frequently finds "something" on the floor and she brings it to me.  Yesterday it was Hudson's bib which he kept yanking off.  I said, "Take the bib back to Hudson so she did and laid it on his chest.  So cute.  I also lost his binky somewhere, but I wasn't worried because I knew it'd quickly be found!  Sure enough!  Here comes Sophie bringing Hudson's binky to me which she found over by the sinks in the middle of some toys.  Thank you Sophie!!  :)  Riley was like that as well.  I never worried - Riley will find it!!  And now it's Sophie's turn!

Sophie - 11/17/2015

Sophie had bites of cinnamon roll and loved the canned prunes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of scrambled eggs, hash brown, cheese, and sausage combo; she also ate waffle and melon mix.

This photo doesn't really capture what Sophie was doing - hanging on to the legos table and bouncing up and down.  But I guess it does capture her cute little smug look while she was performing!  "Look what I can do!"  This picture makes her hair look long too!!  Speaking of hair, this was minutes after Lauralea had finished fixing her hair.  Lauralea commented on the cute "package barrette" in Soph's hair.  She also commented on Sophie's first choice of things to play with; dolls and shoes!  "She's a girl for sure!"  :)  Yup, she loves the dress-up clothes and her babies!  She was feeding her babies with the cups of "milk" we have.  Tipping it up right over the baby's face.

Speaking of babies, Sophie was playing on my lap when we heard Hudson start to fuss.  (Sound coming through the monitor.)  Oh man, she about jumped off my lap!  She was trying to stand up, her eyes were getting bigger and bigger, and she was talking and pointing at the monitor!  Ok ok, we'll get him RIGHT NOW!!  :)

We were reading stories this morning when Sophie heard Missy (Lauralea's daughter) in the kitchen. Missy RARELY interacts with the Daycare kids. (Geez, I wonder why!?!  Ha!  She says she's had more than enough kids around her to last a lifetime.  Hee hee!  And she absolutely wants no children of her own!  No Grandchildren coming from that direction!  Ha!)  Anyhow, Sophie kept yelling at Missy until Missy couldn't ignore her any longer and she even played peek-a-boo with Soph!  That is definitely worth journaling about so we have it on record!!  :)

Sophie - 11/16/2015

Sophie ate kix cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  She ate a large serving of lunch; Ham sandwich, peas, and mandarin oranges.  She is such a great eater!

This first picture is one I had left over from last week - Thursday.  Cooper and Kenzie were in the igloo with the Panda Bear and then Kenzie kept asking me to jam Big Bear in there as well.  Right before I took this picture Kenzie was peeking out underneath Big Bear and Sophie had spotted her. "Hey, where'd you go!?"  (This picture also shows how long Sophie's hair is getting!!)

We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and Sophie immediately found the dolls and doll blankets.  She basically surrounded herself with dolls and she was kissing each one.  It was so stinking cute!!  This picture is staged, but she responded so well when I asked her if she'd give her baby a kiss so I could take a picture.  :)  Thank you Sophie!

Reid has a doll he's been bringing from home the last 2 or 3 weeks.  (He especially likes it at Nap Time.)  Every time he put it down and played with something else this morning Sophie was right there - either playing with it or taking it to Reid.

Sophie - 11/12/2015

Sophie was here shortly before Lunch - kinder-music  day.   She ate a big Lunch: baked chicken, dinner roll, hash browns, and cherries.  Reid's brother was here for Lunch and so was Cooper's sister Kenzie.  They only had half-day of school.  Bode was being sweet to Sophie and she was loving it. She also loved the cherries - and you can see a remnant on her face.

Sophie - 11/11/2015

Sophie ate whole wheat bagel and two servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of ham, ate a large serving of mac-n-cheese, ate corn, and most of apple bites.  And she ate some avocado bites from Lauralea.  Lauralea ate lunch with us and the kids loved it.  (Home because of Veteran's Day.)

I think I've mentioned before about Sophie bringing toys to me when we're picking up toys.  Lately she has begun putting toys on the shelves herself.  Yesterday I watched her pick up a mask and lay it on the shelf with the other masks.  Then she carried one of the animal suits to the dress-up rack and tried hard to hang it on a hook.  I was impressed.

I LOVE this first picture.  She was sitting at the table for Art Time just like a big girl.  I was peeling the stickers off and handing them to her.  She's pretty young for this, but she was doing great.  She managed to get every sticker on her paper.  Good job with the small motor skills Sophie!

Here's a picture of Cooper building a house for the stuffed animals.  The animals are all under the blue balance beam in the picture.  He said he was building a wall around them so Sophie couldn't get them.  She was watching and really didn't seem to care!  :)  Cooper used the green blocks first (favorite color) and when he was building elsewhere Sophie grabbed three green ones and took off.  She headed behind the igloo and Cooper didn't notice.  It was several minutes before he went past there and spotted them.  :)

I thought this was super cute as well.  Sophie had one of her babies and put it in the stroller.  She's trying pretty hard to buckle the strap.  :)

Sophie - 11/10/2015

Sophie ate most of her waffle serving and two servings of pears for breakfast.  She ate all of her lunch: tuna and crackers, sweet potatoes, and mandarin oranges.  She ate all the tuna off the crackers first and then ate the crackers.

It's been a pretty quiet morning around here!  At least quiet for what it usually is!  Sophie and Hudson are the only ones here today so Sophie got all the attention while Hudson was napping this morning. She took a book to Lauralea and was grinning and giggling when Lauralea was making the animal sounds.  She'd look up at Lauralea as if to say, "did you make that sound!?!"

Then we were pestering Sophie, trying to get her to say words and sounds for us.  She immediately started being silly and hiding her head behind Lauralea again - like she was doing yesterday.  We were having so much fun with Soph!  I wonder how many times Lauralea or I said, "You are soooo cute!!!"  :)  How can you look at Sophie and NOT say that!?!

She was very busy all morning playing with everything.  I took this next picture while she was playing with the car ramp toy.  She's reaching into the "elevator" and managed to pull out a couple of cars.  She also thumped on the drums, played with the animals, phones, sinks, dolls, found Hudson's bib from yesterday, laughed at Gary doing silly dances (actually I don't know any other way TO dance), and strolled across the room with a doll blanket over her head.  Later, I said she was funny with the blanket.  She walked over and put it on her head again!

Oh yes, she also yanked Hudson's socks off again and this is where I found them.  In the usual spot!!

Sophie - 11/9/2015

Sophie ate all of her breakfast: corn chex cereal and mixed fruit.  For lunch she ate most of beef sandwich, a couple sips of tomato soup, and a couple bites of lettuce salad.

She likes being able to open the little door to the steps on the changing table.  Here's a picture so you can see where I'm talking about.  This is one of Kenzie's favorite hiding spots during after-school hide-n-seek and it's become a favorite play spot for Sophie.  (Those steps slide out in case anyone was wondering.)

Both of Sophie's socks were missing.  "Ok, Sophie, where'd you put your socks?"  Ha!  Then I noticed Hudson's socks were missing too!  "Ok, Sophie, where'd you put Hudson's socks?"  (Another Ha!)  I looked in the shelf on the top of the dress-up rack and yup, there they were.  Her favorite spot to stash stuff!

Ok, we'll stay with the favorite theme!  :)  Lately, she's been sitting down and squeezing into a narrow spot between the window step and the legos table.  I don't know why she likes that spot, but she started doing that a couple of weeks ago!!  It's pretty tight for her and she'll start to sit down and then kind of slowly slide down to the floor.  The tightness of the spot keeps her from plopping down. You can tell by the look of concentration on her face that she's experimenting with it.

Baby Hudson was laying on the floor and started getting fussy and Sophie went and got him a book. Ha!  So cute.  Thank you Sophie!  Then she went and got another little board book and kind of tossed it toward him and bounced it off his head.  No thank you Sophie!  That was not helpful.  Ha!  (The  bounce off the head part was not intentional.)

Sophie - 11/6/2015

Sophie ate oatmeal and canned prunes for breakfast.  (She loves those prunes!)  This isn't about Sophie, but at breakfast Cooper took a bite of oatmeal and said, "It's the right temperature."  Well, I'm glad you approve Coop!  For Lunch Sophie ate a large serving of hash brown casserole, most of biscuit, and ate a large serving of mandarin oranges.

Sophie was so cute after Lauralea put a ponytail in her hair.  She was initiating the hide and peek game with Lauralea.  As you can see in the picture she'd "hide" behind Lauralea's back and then peek out at her.  And I was happy with how well I captured it in these two pictures!!

She's been playing this game in lots of different ways in the Daycare room.  A few minutes later she was beside the igloo and I said, "Hey!" and she scampered into the igloo to "hide."  :)

Sophie brought this mask for me to put on her.  It was soooo cute because when I was getting ready to put it on her head she was already blinking her eyes in anticipation of it going on!  She knew right where to go when I said, "Go look at yourself in the mirror!"

She was happy to hear Hudson awake on the monitor again.  He was reaching out to grab her today and she wasn't real happy about that though!!  Ha!  She frowned and scowled at him and yanked her hand back when he'd grab her.  Later, she triumphantly brought me one of Hudson's socks that she'd taken off his foot.  Then she went and took off the other one in about a minute.  :)  She was also making a sport out of taking Cooper's blankets today too.  (He brought 3 so he had plenty to spare!)

Sophie - 11/5/2015

Sophie ate most of her toast (whole wheat sandwich thins) and two servings of melon mix for breakfast.  For lunch she ate turkey slice, dinner roll, two servings of green beans, and ate mangoes.

I asked Sophie; "What'd you do with your sock?"  She whirled around and went and found it.  Then she sat down and was trying to get it on her foot.  :)

Thank you Lauralea for those two awesome ponytails!!  Sophie, you are so stinking cute!!  The ponytails stayed in until about 11:00 and I went to one pony.

Lauralea was letting the kids color and play with Doodle Buddy (I think that's what the Program is called) on her iPad this morning.  Sophie was having fun with it and wasn't too happy about giving Reid and Cooper a turn.  :)  I like how Reid is keeping a close watch on what she's doing.

Sophie heard Hudson waking up on the monitor and she headed right for the gate.  She was waiting in the same spot when I came back with him.  She was beaming and was so excited to see the Baby.  She went and got a book for him and three different times this morning she tried to hand him a book.

I like this picture below.  She yelled for me twice to come look at what she's doing.  She'd opened the door on the changing table and was pretty proud of herself.  Either for opening the door or being somewhere the kids don't typically play!

Sophie - 11/4/2015

Sophie ate whole wheat toast and two servings of mixed berries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate everything as well.  Ham, crackers, bean & bacon soup, and strawberries.  This next story is not about Sophie, but something that happened this morning and I thought you all might like it.  At breakfast I dropped a bowl of mixed berries on the floor and of course the bowl broke and I had a mess to clean up!  This provided Cooper (and Sophie) with immense entertainment and 100 different questions to ask!  Ha!!  Cooper's first question; "What's that made out of?"  Glass!  "You should have made it out of bricks!!"  Ok, thanks Cooper.  I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm constructing dinnerware!!  Then all the "why" and "how" questions.  So I asked him, "Have you ever dropped anything?"  "No."  "Well now I see why you have all these questions!  Someday when you do drop something you'll understand."  Cooper's response (which you already know), "Someday I won't drop something!"  LOL  Good luck.

We were singing songs and I was using the bumble bee puppet and singing "Hickity Pickity."  Sophie never stopped grinning and she'd laugh when I'd "buzz" her with the puppet.  The next song was about apples falling on the ground and we'd vigorously pat the ground.  Next song - "Head, shoulders, knees, and toes...."  In the middle of that song Sophie started patting the ground.  (Actions from the last song.)  It was soooo cute.

Here's a picture of Sophie pestering Cooper and she totally knew it was bugging him.  He was sitting in front of the couch reading books and first she was trying to get his books.  So I pointed out different books to her.  Then she was bringing more books over and he'd pitch them off to the side; "I don't want that one."  Well that was just another new game to play.  Give Cooper a book and he pitches it to the side.  Then she decided to push against him like you see in the picture and ended up sitting on him.  :)

Sophie was sitting in front of the animal suits and made it VERY clear she wanted me to help her put on the frog suit.  She left it on for at least 5 - 10 minutes and then wanted it off, but was ready for a different suit.  I took this picture of her in the frog suit.  "Hmmm....Maybe Cooper won't recognize me in a frog suit and I can get one of his toys now!!"  :)

Sophie - 11/3/2015

Sophie ate whole wheat bagel and two servings of apricots for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and applesauce.  (mixed together and I fed her)  Our meal routine: I get Sophie in her highchair with something to eat, dish up the boy's plates, and then call for the boys to come get their bibs and wash.  They came out and said, "We were hiding."  Oh, from whom were you hiding?  "Sophie and Hophie."  (They both answered - First Cooper, then Reid! Ha!)  Well, you were successful; especially considering she's been eating for the past five minutes!

The boys asked me to get out the bears - Big Bear and Panda Bear.  They are kind of big (you can see them in the 2nd picture below) and at first Sophie wasn't too sure, but she's flopping down on them now.  Anyhow when I brought them out she said, "beah, beah."

Look familiar? This is the same leopard jacket she was wearing yesterday.  :)  Again, she wore it for the longest time!!  (We walked over to the mirror so she could look at herself.)  Later, she was at one of the mirrors again, but this time she was kissing herself.

Cooper kept trying to get in front of Sophie and then was getting on his hands and knees.  Cooper, what are you doing?  "I give her piggy-back ride!!"  Ha!  She had enough sense to walk away from that ride!!  :)

She was trying to get one of the animal masks on so I put this lion mask on her.  Cutest lion you'll ever see!!  She also played with the dolls and brought one over to me.  I snuggled it and said, "Oh sweet baby" and hugged it again.  Sophie was grinning all over and giggled.  Lauralea told her this morning; "You have a constant dimple because you grin all the time."

Sophie - 11/2/2015

Sophie ate raisin bran cereal and dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate cheese pizza, corn, and tropical fruit.

Lauralea fixed Soph's hair and then Sophie was sitting on her lap while Lauralea was talking to one of the teachers at Lauralea's work.  Sophie had a cell phone and was mimicking what Lauralea was doing.  Soph would jabber, jabber, jabber - look at Lauralea - and jabber, jabber, jabber some more.  It was so cute.  This is such a fun stage where their language is constantly developing.  When I tell her I'm going to change her diaper before nap, she usually starts saying, "night nigh, night night.  This morning I asked her if she was my "doll" and she giggled.  :)

We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend.  The masks and dress-up clothes have an animal theme and Sophie was wearing this leopard suit.  (jacket)  I know I've mentioned this before, but it always surprises me how long she'll leave on dress-up clothes!!  The angle of this picture on her face looks so much like Nora to me!

The boys were wrestling around and Sophie rolled over and bumped Reid on the head.  "Hey!  Don't forget about me over here!!"

Sophie was pulling on her velcro strap when I snapped this picture.  She obviously thought she was being quite hilarious!!  Another thing she's been doing lately is finding VERY small pieces of something (or nothing) and handing them to me.  It's usually a tiny piece of paper or fuzz.
