Sophie - 10/28/2016

Sophie ate oatmeal and several dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of ground beef, two servings of whole wheat elbow noodles, ate peas, and applesauce.

Whenever I step out of the room for something I always tell the kids what I'm doing.  So this morning I was taking a poopy diaper to the outside diaper disposal and I said, "I'm taking poopy diaper to the garbage."  Reid and Sophie were busy playing and Reid said, "We don't really care."  LOL!!  That totally hit my funny bone and I roared.

It's a 4 ponytail day!!  Cuteness!!!  Lauralea had lots of extra time today so she asked Sophie if she wanted 4 ponies.  The bottom picture is kind of goofy, but kinda cool too.  :)  She's sitting in front of the mirror with her feet out and in the reflection you can't see her head.  I was trying to show the 2 ponytails in the back too.  In case I forget to mention this to you this afternoon, I have some rental work to do in Plains on Monday (Halloween) and Lauralea is going to be covering for me all day at Little Treasures.  So there will not be any Blog on Monday.

Sophie was trying to get Reid to do something this morning, but I wasn't quite sure what she wanted. Anyhow, she said to me, "Gary!  Reid fight with me!"  Haha!  (Translation: He not do what I tell him to!!)  We read books, sang songs, and did some more of the Halloween stickers at Art Time.

Sophie - 10/26/2016

Sophie ate jelly toast and two servings of mangoes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of burrito (rice, bean, chicken), ate sweet potatoes, and two servings of tropical fruit.  Right after lunch Sophie was the first to spot a bunny rabbit hopping across the street toward the mail boxes.  It stopped and ate grass in the yard there.  "Gary!!  I saw bunny running!!"  I have to tell you what Reid said because it was so hilarious!  "My Dad can never get a perfect (s)hot on a bunny to eat it for dinner!  They keep hopping!!"  I roared!

Sophie and Hudson basically arrived at the same time this morning and I took a picture of the first activity of their day!!  Sophie moved a yellow bench across the opening for a barricade so Hudson couldn't get in!  Look at that grin and teasing face!!

These next two pictures go together.  Reid got himself settled in for a nap.  He said, "I'm taking a nap in here."  Then when I took the picture he said, "Hey!  You wake me up from my nap!"  Sophie saw this and went around the corner to her "room."  She said, "See my room; I'm sleeping."  Looks a bit more unfurnished than Reid's!  Ha!!

She was in the swivel/rocker and said to me; "Sit on me"...(pretend)..."I like that."  Ha!  Then  she was playing with the dolls, wrapped her baby in a blanket and said, "I sing her a lullaby."  We also read stories and covered some paper with probably10 different kinds of duct tape and some colored tape.

Sophie - 10/25/2016

Sophie ate cinnamon roll and two servings of canned prunes.  For lunch she ate two servings of scrambled eggs, sausage, and hash brown combo; no waffle, and ate grapes.

This is a little crude, but I'm still going to write it.  I was changing Sophie's poopy diaper and Lauralea asked, "Are you poopy Sophie?"  Sophie said, "Wanna see Lauralea!?!"  LOL  I roared!  Awwww... come on Lauralea!!

I like watching Sophie do "dramatic play."  I know she's had a good teacher with sister Nora, but she's also inclined that way herself.  She had on some dress-up clothes and said, "I'm going to a meeting...now where's my purse?"  Haha!

Sophie was pretty proud of the legos creation she made and brought it to show me.  Then she also took it to Reid to show him.  I took this first picture when He asked, "Is this my Birthday cake?!?"  Haha!  With Reid it's usually about food!!  Here's an example:  At 10:30 this morning Reid asked, "Can we eat already!?!"  Haha!  It's been 1 Hour since you got up from the breakfast table.

I took this next picture when Sophie was spinning around and around.  She did this for a long time and was making herself pretty dizzy and couldn't walk straight.  Ha!

We had Story Time, Art Time, and then Reid, Sophie, and Hudson were playing on the floor.  Isn't this cute?  Reid is so good with the little people.

Sophie - 10/24/2016

Sophie ate half of kix cereal and ate mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ham sandwich, peas, and mandarin oranges.  I must have yawned pretty large at breakfast because she said, "Your teeth are golden!"  Haha!  Yes Sophie, I have way too many gold crowns!!

Sophie is usually the first to notice when things are different and of course the toy, book, and puzzle exchange I did this weekend is quite obvious!  However, she noticed a different mattress cover and even the garbage bag was a different color!  Haha!  She asked, "Where are the other ones?"  (The other ones are white and these are black!)

Checking out all the different books is one of her favorite things to do!  Here's a picture of her looking at one of many books she read this morning - besides all the ones we read at Story Time! All the parents thought Hudson and Sophie's jerseys were so cute!  (Well maybe not all!!  Haha!!)  The most common remark;  "I wonder who they're cheering for tonight!?!"  :)

Sophie was playing on the swivel/rocker chair and slipped off.  (Intentionally - in slow motion)  She said, "I'm ok.  I"m ok."  Haha!  That's one of Reid's favorite things to say.  However, most of his crashes are not intentional!!  I took this picture when she was playing with the dress-up clothes and I helped her with the head band.   :)

Sophie - 10/21/2016

Sophie had several bites of brown rice and two servings of raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of pulled pork, half of flat bread, ate carrots, and two servings of apricots.

One of the songs we sing is "Oh here we go to Boston, to Boston, to Boston, oh here we...."  So I asked Sophie, "Who lives in Boston?"  She said, (with a twinkle in her eye) "Deegan!"  LOL!  So does she know another Deegan?  There's a little neighbor (across the street and down a couple of houses) boy who walks from school with Bode, Kenzie, and Riley almost every day.  So I said, "Aunt Katie, Cousin Lila.."  And Sophie said, "Peter...(again with that twinkle)..and Sula."  LOL!!

Lauralea was able to be here until about 10:30 this morning so she had lots of fun with Sophie's hair. Sophie said, "My ponies bounce!!"  Yup they do!!  When she was bouncing on the mattress she said, "My forehead bounce too!"  Haha!  Love the 3rd picture where the ponies are flying!

In the picture below you can see Sophie has on a paint shirt.  She said, "I not need help anymore!!"  (Putting on the paint shirt.)  So cute!  She struggled with it for a few seconds and said, "I need help!"  She gave me the "look" (see picture) when I laughed!  Ha!

Sophie kept doing this "look" this morning - so we kind of staged a picture trying to replicate it!!  Ha! This reminds me a LOT of Nora when she was this age.  Nora frequently looked out of the "top" of her eyes as well!!  You guys have 2 Adorable Cuties that we Love!!

Sophie - 10/19/2016

Sophie had a couple bites of apple/cinnamon bagel and three servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ham, two servings of whole wheat elbow noodles, ate corn, and apple bites.

I told Momma Molly yesterday I had a special note for the Blog today.  Sophie was playing with the cups (that look like they're full of milk) and brought one over to me and said, "See my wine."  Ha! (With a twinkle in her eye.)

Yesterday Hudson had thunked Sophie on the head with a cup and she was crying.  I snuggled her and then finished cleaning up breakfast.  I heard Sophie laughing and Reid said, "I help Sophie not cry,"  How did you do that Reid?  "I banged this on my head!"  (Holding up one of the food toys.) Well that definitely helped her stop crying!  :)  What a clown!!  Speaking of being a clown: Yesterday when Daddy Colin dropped off Hudson, Reid headed for the window and said, "I'm gonna wave at Uncle Pat."  He knew he had the wrong name and was being silly.  He said the same thing this morning; except it did it for both Colin and Pat.

All three of these pictures are from yesterday.  On Monday Sophie started jumping from the balance beam onto the mattress.  And after a few times she was very comfortable and is now a seasoned pro!  She listened to my advice and jumps off the "yellow" piece you see in the picture as it is positioned closer to the mattress.  She goes hopping across the mattress now like a bunny rabbit.

Here's a picture of Kenzie putting rollers in Sophie's hair yesterday afternoon.  How cute is this!?!  This was the first time for Sophie, but Kenzie and Riley have played with these frequently.

Sophie - 10/17/2016

Sophie ate corn chex cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a bite of beef sandwich, drank two servings of tomato soup, ate crackers, and two servings of pickled beets.  At breakfast Sophie started talking about "Sula's tummy hurt.  I play with Mommy, Daddy, and Nora.  Not Sula; Sula's tummy hurt."  Then she asked Reid, "What's your doggy's name?"  Does this sound familiar? (See last Friday's Blog)  I guess it sounded familiar to Reid too!  He did a big over-exaggerated eye roll and said loudly; "EEFF!"  (Chief - as in Kansas City Chief for those that don't know.)  Then at lunch time Reid ate the rest of Sophie's beef sandwich because she didn't want it and he was saying something to her about her not liking it.  It sounded like he was teasing her.  She finally said, "Don't talk to me...talk to Bubba!"  LOL!!!  Oh man that was so funny.  She wasn't appreciating whatever it was he was saying.  :)

Sophie said, "My Dad going on a trip."  Oh?  Where's he going?  "On a boat."  What's he gonna do on a boat?  "Driving the boat."  :)

Here are some pictures from Little Treasures this morning.  1) Sophie is sitting on the "bump" waiting for Story Time.  If she ever talks about sitting on the "bump" this is it.  Ha.  2)  This picture is just her and Reid having fun while he covers his head with his blanket.  3)  And in this picture Sophie is getting up close and personal with Baby Nora.  A bit too close.  About the same time I took this picture Nora was letting her know she needed some space.  :)

Sophie - 10/14/2016

Sophie ate oatmeal and two servings of canned prunes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate hash brown casserole, most of biscuit, and two servings of mandarin oranges.  At breakfast Sophie was INTENTLY watching Reid take a bite of oatmeal.  Her eyes followed from plate to mouth and she opened her mouth too.  :)  Reid noticed and said, "Her staring at me!"  Haha!

At the Lunch table Sophie asked Reid, "What's your dog's name?"  "Chief"  "My dog's name is Sula." "What's your cat's name?"  Reid answered, "I Don't have a cat."  "Why?"  Reid said, "my Mom's allergic."  "Why?"  Reid said, "Because she sneezes a lot!"  Haha!  Good conversation, but it got funnier.  Sophie said, "My cat's name is ......"  We had her say it too many times and we could NEVER figure it out.  (even though Momma Molly has told me before!!)  And here's Reid's response; "Would be better if her have teeth!!"  LOL!!  Oh man, I roared!  Especially coming from the one who calls her "Hofie!!"  (We read a Dr. Seuss book about teeth that says you need them to talk.)

Sophie and Hudson were at the window after Lunch and we could hear an airplane flying over.  Sophie spotted it, started waving and said; "Bye Tutu, Bye Tutu."  Then she looked at Hudson and started laughing.  She really does have an awesome sense of humor.  I was changing her diaper and she asked about Lauralea and started using Hudson's name for her; "Lor Lor, Lor Lor."  Another example; Reid was making an observation about the babies drinking from bottles.  He said, "When people crawl they get bottle."  (Still a baby.)  Sophie immediately got on the floor and started crawling.  She looked at me grinning and said, "I get bottle crawling."  :)

Reid was hanging off the couch and his shirt fell down around the floor exposing a couple of nasty bruises on his back.  As you can see in the picture Sophie was having a close-up observation!!  And was very concerned!!  Then moments later she was lifting Hudson's shirt to see if he had a bruise on his back!  Haha!

Sophie - 10/12/2016

Sophie ate jelly toast and two servings of mixed berries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ham, crackers, two servings of bean & bacon soup, and ate strawberries.  I'm not sure what started the conflict at the breakfast table, but Reid was shaking his head "no" at Sophie.  She said, "Reido! Don't do that!"  Ha!

I forgot to include this in yesterday's Blog, but it was SO cute.  Sophie was talking on the phone; "Yes, Hello.  Oh,,oh."  Who are you talking to Sophie?  "Emily."  Emily?  "Yes...(with a look that said; Duuhh...you know who that is!!) ....Baby Nora's Mom."  Then she was back to her conversation.  "Baby Nora at home?"  Baby Nora had family in town so she was gone Monday and Tuesday and Sophie was just touching base with them.  :)  She asked about Baby Nora several times.

Sophie asked; "Where's Reido?"  He's in the bathroom.  Reid soon came back.  "Hi Reido!!"  Reid asked, "What'd I miss?!?"  LOL  Well you missed me taking this picture of Sophie!

Hudson was letting Sophie put the bumblebee jacket on, but it all started to take too long and he was ready to flee.  When I took this picture Sophie was saying things like; "I put it on...Leave it on!!"   Ha!  Then she informed him; "I'm not done yet."  I had to intervene in this situation because he really was not willing to sit any longer.  :)  Then later she was starting to take his socks off and stopped to ask "permission."  "Gary; Take his sock off?"

Baby Nora is here today; first time this week.  All the kids were happy to see her and it was super cute.  I love how Sophie distinguishes between Sister Nora and Baby Nora.  One of the first things Sophie told me this morning; "Nora upset; My Nora."  Oh...was she doing some whining this morning?  "Yup."  Later, Sophie said, "When Momma come I don't whine."  It's been awhile since I've reminded her with that phrase.  She has a great memory!!

Sophie - 10/11/2016

Sophie ate bagel (maple flavored) and two servings of apricots for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, two servings of whole wheat elbow noodles, ate peas, and two servings of applesauce.

Lauralea was here this morning and did Sophie's hair for her.  (That's only twice in two weeks.)  Sophie said, "I want a floof!"  I think that's so cute!!  She NEVER asks me to do a floof!!  Maybe she just instinctively knows I'm incapable of a decent floof!!  Haha!!

Sophie loves helping and keeping track of everything for me!!  Ha!  I asked, "Who's poopy?"  She said, "Bubba!"  And of course she was right.  Moments later and the smell was lingering!  Now who is it?  Sophie said, "Avi's poopy too."  Again she was correct.  Thank you Soph!!  :)  Later she said, "Gary!  Avi spit!"  I thought this might be a false alarm because Avi was sleeping!  Where is the spit? She pointed at the floor and said, "Right here."  I don't see it.  So she changed locations; "Right here." After 4 location changes she held out her leg, pointed at her foot and said, "Right here."  (Grinning and laughing.)  Funny Girl Sophie!

I love this picture of Sophie having fun.  She and Hudson were playing on the mattress and she was saying, "Everybody!  Follow me!  Everybody!  Follow me!"  I couldn't see that she was doing anything or going anywhere, but that just made it funnier!  I tickled her a couple times before I took this picture and she said, "Get Bubba!!"  Ha!  She cracks me up.

Sophie was pretending to sleep on the couch; "Hey! Be quiet! I'm sleeping!  Ten seconds later; "I'm awake!"  Repeat several times.  :)  We also read books and did some play dough at Art Time.

Sophie - 10/10/2016

Sophie ate raisin bran cereal and a couple dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she had a bite of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, ate her corn, and two servings of tropical fruit.  I hadn't finished cleaning up breakfast area when Sophie was already requesting books.  Love that!  "Read book, read book, read book...."

Reid, Sophie, and Avilene were playing with Reid's blanket on the mattress.  Reid was covering them up and everyone was loving it.  Hudson joined in on the fun too.  I heard Reid giving Sophie some solid advice; "If you pull hard enough on your socks they'll actually come off!!"  Good to know!  Reid's Momma Lesley told me that last week Reid said, "Can Hofie come play at my house!?"  How cute is that!?!

I LOVE this picture of Sophie.  She's like "Ok Gary, take the stinking picture already!!  I have work to do here!!"  I did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and Sophie was trying on the different jackets.  This puppy jacket and the bumblebee jacket appear to be her favorites.

Also, in the picture above notice the sink in the upper left corner of the picture.  Sophie crawled up there and plopped down in the sink and said, "See Gary, see!!  Sit on potty!!"  Ok funny girl!  :)  Also, while I was taking this picture Reid tossed a legos guy toward Sophie and said, "Him just photo-bomb her!"  Another new term for the English language and 3 and 4 year olds already know what it means!!

Sophie - 10/6/2016

Sophie was at Kinder-Music this morning.  For lunch she ate bite of chicken, ate crackers, sweet potatoes, and canned cherries.

I have some notes from yesterday afternoon I'll post about Sophie.  I took this picture yesterday after she and Bubba got up from their nap.  Sophie was reading/singing "Wheels on the Bus" when Bubba stopped by to read along.  :)  Love this.

Sophie watches the school kids in the afternoon coming home - primarily watching for Kenzie and Riley.  Yesterday she saw the neighbor lady leaving to go walk her son Joel home from the 1st grade. Sophie said, "There's Susan."  Surprised me! Obviously she's heard me say the neighbor's name.  Ha!

And I also want to tell you about Reid's dog.  Yesterday Reid's Dad walked to our house to walk home with Reid.  The 2 Babies were sleeping so I asked Hudson and Sophie if they wanted to go down the sidewalk to see Reid's dog. (Chief)  Chief was tied up near the gate.  Chief is Great Dane and he's HUGE!!  Sophie barely got out the door, spotted Chief and literally burst into tears screaming!  She whirled around and sprinted right back in the house.  Geez.  But, she let me carry her down the sidewalk and I petted Chief.  How big is Chief?  I've seen him stand at the entrance gate at the end of sidewalk and rest his chin on the top of the gate.  He can stand flat-footed and lick my face. Chief is HUGE!!

Sophie - 10/5/2016

Sophie ate biscuit and three servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a large serving of baked beans, ate bite of dinner roll, ate peas, and a large serving of crushed pineapple.

Sophie was asking Reid to come read with her.  "Reido! read with me!"  (repeat 3 or 4 times)  "I like this one," she said.  Reid asked, "Is that a counting book too!?"  "Yes."  When I took the picture she was counting apples in the tree.  Reid is really into counting everything right now and Sophie has started doing it too.

"That's my letter.  That's my letter."  They learn the first letter of their name and that becomes "their" letter!  It won't be long before Hudson will be identifying his letter - or letters!  Sophie wanted to know the letter for "Bubba" too.  You can see Reid is watching to help out when needed.  Reid and Sophie like it because their letters are beside each other.   With this alphabet poster they frequently start by identifying the animal associated with their letter.  Sophie was doing all of her family, plus Gary, Reid, and Avi.  She included "Baby Nora" with "Sister Nora."  That's how she identifies them and keeps them separate for us.

We also did some coloring at art, sang songs, and did some sign language.  She knew we were going to do the "Hickity Pickity" Song and she started singing it early and then asking Hudson, "What's your name!?"  So she answered for him; "Bubba Bubba!"

Sophie - 10/4/2016

Sophie ate bites of waffle and ate two servings of hash browns for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken & cheese quesadilla, half of carrots, and ate mandarin oranges.  About 15 minutes after 9:00 I said (mostly to myself), "I thought Sophie would be here by now."  Reid answered, "I think they are walking."  LOL - I roared.

This first picture is actually from yesterday afternoon, but Sophie was playing with the dress-up clothes again today.  The girl LOVES her dress-up clothes!  Speaking of dress-up play, I put this in Hudson's Blog, but I'll put it here as well.  He was playing with the dress-up clothes with Sophie this morning and he managed to get his head through the arm hole of a shirt.  And then he was trying to put it over Avi's head - kind of like how Sophie tries to dress him.  Except there were 2 primary problems; 1) Avi was moving and 2) Hudson still had the shirt on himself.  Ha! That was quite entertaining!

Reid was putting on a performance for Sophie when I took this next picture.  He started by flipping Minnie the Mouse saying, "Minnie do double flip Sophie!"  And of course that just escalated, especially with Sophie laughing at his silliness.  Ha!  The last I heard it was something like, "Minnie do 80 Flips Sophie!!"  Ha!

I love Sophie's creative imaginary play.  It reminds me a lot of Sister Nora.  And I'm sure some of it is learned from Nora, but it comes pretty natural as well.  I've mentioned it many times before, i.e... "going to the lake," etc.  Today she was involving Hudson and they were going somewhere.  "Bubba leaving."  Oh, where's he going?  She said, "Zoo."  Haha!  That made me laugh.  To visit or occupy?  (That question passed her by!)  She said, "Bye everyone!!"  Then she was talking about "my iPad on the plane." :)  (Now you know what part of the trip she will remember for a while anyhow!)

Sophie - 10/3/2016

Sophie ate half of her breakfast: cheerios and banana.  For lunch she had bites of cheese sandwich, drank two servings of tomato soup, and ate a large serving of beets.  When she was washing her hands for breakfast she pointed at the new clock and said, "What's that?"  Then she asked, "That yours Gary?"  Ha.  Yup.  She was watching Reid drink his milk at breakfast and asked him, "Almond milk?"  She totally remembered and it's been a while since she heard that!

It was so fun to see her this morning and she had a blast playing with the kids and also with the dress-up clothes and the dolls.  I said, "You're SO cute."  She pointed at her lips and said, "lipstick on."  Haha!  While she was putting on the dress-up clothes and taking them off she kept saying, "I take shower."   :)

I took this picture when these three were having a blast playing on the mattress first thing this morning.  Avi was thrilled to have them back.  It was so cute.  She may only be 11 months old, but she totally holds her own in rowdy play and loves to be in the middle of everything!

Sophie had fun playing with Reid too and here's a picture of them sitting and reading books together.  Then he was covering her with a blanket and only her feet were sticking out.  He said, "Her want it dark in there!"  She also played with the legos and after she assembled several of them she brought it to me and said, "I made a light saber!"  Ha!

This last picture has nothing to do with Sophie, but I thought it was funny because I showed Reid this picture and the first thing he said; "Put that on Hofie's Blog!"  Ha!  He had his face mashed into the couch and said; "Why is my face planted!?!"  :)
