Sophie - 2/29/2016

Sophie ate chex cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate two servings of beef sandwich, several sips of tomato soup and bites of crackers, and a taste of beets.

Lauralea fixed Sophie's hair, sang to her, read to her, and then rubbed her feet!  Wow!  The Royal Treatment!!  I asked Sophie, "Does that feel good?"  She answered with an emphatic, "Uh huh!!"  As she's relaxing and reclining!  Ha! Then she'd hold up the other foot as if to say, "Here's another one!!"

Lauralea read to Sophie, I read to Sophie, Sophie sat in front of the book rack reading, and then after breakfast we had our usual Story Time.  I asked, "Who wants to read?"  She yells, "me me me me!!"  Ha!  Earlier when I'd read to her she had several books she'd brought and when I'd finish one she'd point to another and say, "mmm this....mmmm this."

I have to post some more pictures of Toddler hide-n-seek.  It's so cute and entertaining and they are having a blast with their game.  The entire game of hide-n-seek was played in this corner; about a 4 X 4 area!!  (It's so much easier that way!!)  In the top picture Cooper is "hiding" and Reid is counting (notice he has his eyes closed).  "My turn to count!"  "I see you!"  They went back-n-forth probably 5 - 7 times.  Did you see Sophie in the mirror in the top picture?  She's intently watching and learning.  And they invited her to join them and she knew just what to do.  They both "hid" behind the chair and she crawled up in the chair and "counted."  She buried her head and "mumble mumble mumble....." I'd finally tell her they were ready!  Ha!

Sophie - 2/25/2016

Thursday morning is Kinder-Music time for Sophie and she arrived right before lunch.  At lunch she ate half of her turkey and half of her dinner roll serving; she ate a large serving of green beans and a large serving of mangoes.  After saying "Mommy" and "DaDa" several times Cooper apparently felt the need to inform her; "I'm NOT your Dada OR your Momma!!"  LOL

I'm including two pictures I took yesterday afternoon.  Sophie took a book and crawled up on the top shelf of the changing table.  How cute is this!?  She loves the cozy/snuggly places!  Then she was putting on dress-up clothes and Kenzie was more than happy to help her out.  Kenzie put 6 shirts (all she could find) on Sophie and Sophie added the boots as well!  :)

Sophie - 2/24/2016

Sophie ate whole wheat toast and three servings of mixed berries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of ham, ate crackers, a large serving of bean & bacon soup, and two servings of strawberries.

This first picture is from yesterday afternoon.  Where did Kenzie and Sophie go??  This is where I found them and it was so cute.  Kenzie is keeping a watchful eye on her piano student!  (You better enjoy tight places if you're gonna practice in that Studio!)

I was taking this next picture primarily to show Lauralea's handiwork with Sophie's hair this morning.  Then Cooper joined her in peeking at Hudson and I think it's a cute picture.  Here's what Hudson is thinking; "Sweet!  A ponytail for each hand!!"  Then Lauralea put the dark swim glasses on Sophie again and of course that was worthy of another picture.  Lauralea was laughing because of how many pictures I was taking of Sophie Girl!!

Cooper told Sophie he was going to hide and "you go over there and count!"  Ha!  However, she totally understood the "hiding" concept and she kept going on the other side and then peeking around the corner and squealing.  (Which is what she's doing in the picture.)  Then they'd switch spots and he'd pop around the corner to peek at her.  Right after this Sophie pooped and Cooper said, "Smells like Reid's toots!!"  One more note about Cooper - I told him the new Baby is starting in a couple of weeks and that her Mommy's name is Molly just like Sophie's Mommy.  Cooper said, "That means they're sisters!"  :)

Sophie - 2/23/2016

Sophie ate blueberry bagel and three servings of apricots for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, whole wheat elbow noodles topped with shredded cheese, ate peas, and applesauce.  The Food Monitor showed up at breakfast time to make sure every thing was "kosher!"  Ha!  (Sorry, that was just me humoring myself! I really don't serve only food that meets strict Jewish dietary laws.)  Actually there were two of them - one lady was from the State monitoring the Monitor to make sure she was doing it right.  (I also found humor in that!)  Sophie was totally fine with them being here and she just kept on eating.  Good job Sophie!

Sophie arrived fairly early today and was the first one here - I don't know who was happier; Sophie or Lauralea!!  :)  Very sweet!  Lauralea fixed her hair, sang lots of songs, and massaged her feet!  Sophie was loving it and you can see her "dreamy" look in the second picture.  Nora always liked it too when Lauralea massaged her feet.  Sometimes Nora would hold her foot up and say, "rub my foot."

Reid was wearing these dark swim goggles and Sophie had on the clear ones.  She was watching and when he put them on the floor she raced over and immediately wanted me to help her get them on.  Her next stop?  The mirror!  Ha!

I also sent this last picture to Maddy and Colin!  Like I told them, when I grabbed the camera Sophie was giving Hudson the Sweetest love!  He was loving it too, but was almost immediately ready to take off and Sophie was hanging on!!  Ha!  So it ended up looking like a wrestling move!  :)

Sophie - 2/22/2016

Sophie ate raisin bran cereal and dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of canadian bacon/cheese pizza, ate most of corn, and ate tropical fruit.

Reid gave Sophie a "ride" in the swivel/rocker chair.  She was grinning all over and I didn't let him go very fast!  Ha!  (When Cooper was her age he puked from a fast ride in that chair!)  Then Reid found one of Sophie's socks on the floor and put it on the changing table for her.  That's a switch!  She is usually picking up his socks.  Good job Reid.

We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend.  Sophie checked out everything and I took these pictures when she was trying on shirts and boots.  I combined these two pictures - she got one boot on and that's enough.  She carried the leftovers!!  :)  Notice in the second picture how long her hair is getting!

She has her doll and doll blanket in this picture.  She was singing, "night night, night night, night night..."  So cute.  A little later I was doing "this piggy went to market..." with Hudson's toes.  Sophie held her foot up to me and said, "Me me me me."  :)

Sophie - 2/19/2016

Sophie ate cheerios and raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate everything as well: ground beef, elbow noodles topped with shredded cheese, ate apple pieces, and mixed fruit.

Sophie has been playing with the little frogs yesterday and today.  I took this picture when she was retrieving every last frog from the back of the toy shelf.  :)  Notice the dolls to the left of her - the frogs got first priority.  Ha!  She did play with the dolls later!

I took a picture of all the frogs Sophie had carried to the arm of the couch.  Cooper got interested in those and gave her instructions how to push the frogs off the couch with the Star Wars cars.  Ha!  We also read lots of books, watched people out the window and waved at Big Willy, and Sophie played with Hudson several times.  Sophie was bringing me books to read - one book at a time.  I stopped counting after the first dozen.  :)

Then Cooper moved all the blocks over to the big mirror (with some assistance from Sophie) and said  he was building a "jungle house."  He worked on it for a long time and kept asking Sophie and I; "What do you think of my house?"  Then he said it was a "house for Bubba and it actually has 4 smokestacks!"  Speaking of Bubba, Cooper was perched on top of the igloo and saying, "Try to get me Hudson, try to get me!!"

Sophie - 2/18/2016

Sophie ate raisin english muffin and three servings of blueberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, crackers, sweet potatoes, and two servings of cherries.  Hmmm...lots of blueberries and cherries.. is she coming to Daycare tomorrow!?!  :)

Two days in a row Sophie has told me she has a poopy diaper.  Saying, "Uhhhh, uhhhh" and pointing at her butt.  And with that frown of hers - I love that frown.  Lauralea noticed her doing the frown thing and said, "Wow, she does quite the frown doesn't she!?"  :)

The next note here is a Cooper "rant," but I thought you might like it.  (And it does involve the babies.)  He said, "When SOMEBODY chews on my cars (he'd just rescued one from Sophie).....My Mom says NOBODY chew on my cars!"  (He's deep in thought at this point!)  "And my other stuff too!!" (He's getting louder and more animated as he's talking!)  "And Mom says NO drooling on somebody...and NO puking on somebody either!!"  (Pausing for his final point) ..."Hudson is gonna do that stuff!!"  Haha!  Yes, he probably will.

We did some dot painting this morning and Sophie was really into doing the painting today.  Pretty cool!  Notice that she intentionally painted the dots in all four corners of her paper.  And she only taste-tested the paint two or three times.  :)  Nice job Sophie!

And here's Sophie being Sophie!!  Ha!  She was trying to pull on these slippers and then went and got some pajamas from the dress-up rack.  And returned to the same spot, but draped the PJ's over her head.  She knew she was being silly and was checking to see if I was watching her.  :)

Sophie - 2/17/2016

Sophie had bites of biscuit and ate two servings of peaches for breakfast.  She used her little fork with the peaches at breakfast and did awesome.  For lunch she ate a large serving of baked beans, no dinner roll, no peas, and ate most of pineapple.  Her meal time routine is so cute - she always goes over to get her bib first and then points at Hudson's bib and says, "Bubba Bubba Bubba...."

She played with the babies, blankets, books, and also laying the blocks down flat so she could stand on them.  She hung her dolls on the mirror railing again, but there is no Reid here today to take them down as fast as she puts them up!  Also today, Sophie was showing interest in one of the "color posters."  This is the first time.  So we went through all the colors and she was totally into it.

Sophie was going around picking up odds-n-ends like my pillow, Hudson's burp cloth, Cooper's book and anything else we left laying around.  Then she decided to stop and take a break and actually look at one of the books she'd picked up.

When it was Story Time I asked Sophie if she was ready to read.  She pointed to her butt and said, "Uh uh uh."  Are you pooping?  "Ya."  She turns around and heads right for the gate and kept looking back at me to see my reaction.  She was definitely wanting to go to the bathroom.  She'd already pooped, but it was cute how she was telling me about it.  After Story Time she was playing in the swivel/rocker several different times.  (You can also see part of Hudson in the mirror.)

Sophie - 2/16/2016

Sophie ate waffle and two servings of hash browns for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of chicken and cheese, nibbled on the tortilla, ate half of carrots, and ate mandarin oranges.

First thing today - Sophie found the "Baby Beluga" book and started following me around wanting me to read it to her!  So cute.  I was singing the song to her and my voice broke (squawked) and she looked up at me, frowning, with the most concerned look that was asking, "What was that!?!"  I was laughing so hard!!

I'm posting this first picture that I took last Friday afternoon.  Sophie was wanting me to help he get this outfit on and I loved how she looked in it.  I also loved Reid's reaction!  He looked at her and said, "What the heck!?!"  LOL!!  I also remember one other thing from Friday; I was changing Bubba's diaper and she was sure she needed to watch.  So she got a little stack of 4 or 5 blocks and scooted them over and tried to stand on them and see the changing table.  I told her that was not safe, BUT it was an excellent try at problem solving!  :)

Cooper brought a bunch of little Star Wars cars and he allowed Sophie to have ONE car.  "She can have girl car."  (Princess L)  But when she tried to grab another one he said, "These are all boys!  These are all boys!!"  So here's a picture of her playing with her one allotted car!!

Hey, does this picture look familiar!?  She's been doing this every day for several days now.  And every day, Reid has the same reaction!  Those dolls do not belong there!!  Ha!

Sophie - 2/12/2016

Sophie ate oatmeal and dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate everything as well: Ground beef, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and applesauce.  I mixed it all together and fed her.

Sophie crawled up on the couch beside me with her book and started singing, "Booga, booga, booga," while looking at the "Baby Beluga" book.  We'd been reading and singing with that book earlier.  SO CUTE!!

She was having fun playing beside Hudson and then yelling "mine" at him when he'd grab for the toys.  She was also introducing him to dolls, which gave him something different to chew on.  :)

Cooper was hiding under his blanket (from home) and kept yelling for Sophie to find him; "Soph!! Try and find me!!"  Over and over.  Right after I took this picture Sophie got up and started sitting on him.

These 2 pictures are from yesterday afternoon.  This really is kind of a rare occasion - neither of these two girls usually sit still long enough to snuggle and do much relaxing.  Love it!!  I like how Sophie has her leg positioned in the bottom picture.  Just chillin!

Sophie - 2/11/2016

Thursday - Sophie's Kinder-music day.  She arrived in time for Lunch and ate a couple bites of turkey, ate whole wheat sandwich thin, two servings of green beans, and two servings of strawberries. At lunch time she was matching Hudson's squeaking and squawking sounds.  And she was quite amused by it all.

I'm posting these pictures from yesterday afternoon.  Teething time - she's been chewing on everything lately so I gave her a chew toy from the refrigerator to help out.  Sometimes you use it and sometimes the window sill is just fine!  :)  That window sill has lots of teeth marks from many years!

Sophie loves putting the dolls on the railing.  I showed this picture to Reid and he said, "I always want to put them off."  Yup, that's true.  :)  She's doing it right now while I'm doing this Blog.

Sophie - 2/10/2016

Sophie ate two servings of breakfast: jelly toast and mangoes.  And she ate all of her lunch too!  Scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausage combo.  Also waffle and melon mix.

Before Lauralea left for work Cooper had leaned her shoes up against the big blocks side-by-side.  (One pointed up and one pointed down.)  A little later Sophie spotted what he'd done and that was NOT right and she had to fix it - put them back where Lauralea had them!  We could hear Cooper whispering to her; "I want them that way."  I think he was trying to keep it a "secret" from Lauralea. Well the secret was out of the bag because Sophie does not like stuff out of place!!  :)

I took this picture yesterday afternoon when Kenzie and Cooper had rearranged the blocks and climber pieces.  Sophie found another tight little spot to squeeze into!  There's not much extra room in there!!  :)

She was being her usual adorable self and found the head bands to try on.  She worked hard to get one on and she was successful.  What do you think she did right after I took these pictures?  (Answer is at the bottom of the pictures.  Guess before peeking!)  Haha!
Answer: She went right to the mirror to see how it looks, of course!  The Girl knows what to do! :)

We read lots of books, sang songs, did some shapes, and sign language.  Reid was not here today (although he will be here all day tomorrow when the rest of his family goes skiing) so it was just Sophie and Cooper all morning.  At meal times this morning Sophie pointed at Bubba's bib again!  "Where is he at?!?"

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

Sophie - 2/9/2016

Sophie ate cinnamon roll and three servings of canned prunes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bean & beef burrito, sweet potatoes, and tropical fruit.  Yesterday and today at meal times she points at Hudson's bib hanging (unused) on his hook as if to say, "Hey, where's Bubba at?"  :)

Sophie was sooooo proud of herself when she found a new spot for her babies to "hang around."  I took the pictures rather than try to describe what she was doing.  After getting my attention ("eee,,eee" I think she was saying, "see, see") she was getting Reid and Cooper's attention.  She just left them like that for a long time.  Later, Reid took them down and I took the bottom picture after she realized the babies were gone.  She was grumbling to herself (because she had not seen who the culprit was that took them down) and put them back on the railing!  :)

Here's a picture of the kids playing with the food toys.  And the boys are even playing with them as food toys!!  Earlier Cooper and Reid had the bananas (there are bananas on the table on the other side of Reid's stack of orange juice) and Cooper said, "These are Alien Guns!!"  Reid looked at me and roared; "ALIEN!!  BOOM!  SHOT YOU!!"  :)

Cooper hurt his leg and he was crying.  Sophie was SO concerned!!  She immediately starts making sounds, looking at me, and pointing at Cooper - "fix this problem now!!"  I was giving him loves and she comes over and wraps her arms around Coop and started hugging him.  It was the sweetest and most adorable moment!!  That was the first time she's done that here on her own initiative.  Precious. I love it when children willingly show unsolicited sympathy.

Sophie - 2/8/2016

Sophie ate kix cereal and two servings of mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ham sandwich, most of peas, and three servings of mandarin oranges.  At lunch time I told her she could come get her bib and she immediately (like usual) started trying to herd the boys to the lunch room too.  Just like she tried herding them to the couch when I announced "Reading Time."  :)

We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend.  Sophie enjoyed exploring the different things and zeroed in on the toaster you see in the picture.  She was working hard to master getting the "bread" into the toaster and pushing the buttons to push the bread down, and then the button to pop the toast out.  In the meantime, Reid and Cooper are making a "weapon" out of their toaster!!  (BOYS!)  Ha!  The toast really does shoot out of these toasters pretty good!  Read (while pointing his toaster at a "target") said, "I popped the toast at the bad guy!"  Hahaha!

I was carrying the breakfast tray into the kitchen and putting some things away and I hear Sophie saying, "No no no no..."  So I'm thinking (and I was right) the boys are doing something they are not supposed to be doing!  Ha!  Thank you Sophie.  I go out and she's demonstratively pointing out their indiscretion - they've got the legos drawer stacked high with everything they can grab.  Pillows, food toys, dolls, doll blankets, etc.  :)  Cooper said, "Reid started it!"  Hahaaa!  It's amazing how quick this age group will throw each other under the bus!!  That always cracks me up!

Then later Sophie kicked Cooper and he said, "Sophie kicked me."  So I told her to be gentle and that kicking is not acceptable.  I told Cooper to tell Sophie; "I don't like that."  He said, "I don't like that Kenzo!!"  Then he realized what he'd just said and got a huge grin on his face.

(Picture below)  I love the dreamy expression on her face.

Sophie - 2/4/2016

Sophie's Blog will be short today - KinderMusic Thursday.  For lunch she nibbled on baked chicken and dinner roll; she ate hash browns and cherries.  Love those canned cherries!

Sophie was showing Bubba how to properly look at a book.  Ha!  I sent this to Colin & Maddy and titled it: "Don't eat the books Bubba!"

I have a note from yesterday - well actually from the past several days.  The big boys always take their socks off while playing in Daycare Room.  And I always tell them to put them on the changing table!  Well Reid rarely has to because Sophie gets to the socks first and either tries to put them on the changing table or brings them to me.  That happened again yesterday morning, then in the afternoon after Sophie had left (Reid had his socks on again) Reid was taking them off and I found them on the floor.  "Sophie is not here to pick up after you Reid!!  Put them on the changing table!"  :)

Sophie - 2/3/2016

Sophie ate blueberry bagel and three servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of ham, a large serving of elbow noodles topped with shredded cheese, ate corn, and bites of apple.  So her cold, runny nose, whatever it is, doesn't seem to have any effect on her appetite at Little Treasures.  So that's good.

I just wanted to include a picture of the kids playing in our new "secret spot."  I took the door and stairs off the changing table to give the kids another place to put toys and to play.  And of course it was something different so it was a big hit.  Sophie went in there to read books, but then she tried to stand up and walk out and bonked her head.  Dang.  So we've been talking about crawling in.  And then in the next picture you can see Reid moved in to read when Sophie moved out.

Reid loves Captain America and brought 4 of them so everyone had one to play with, but the one Sophie has in the picture below is the biggest one.  Reid was still eating Lunch when Sophie grabbed this one and took it to the door to show him what she was carrying.  "Look!  I got the big one Reid!!" Ha!  Silly Sophie.  That's a proud cheesy look on her face as she proudly walks away!!

She was playing with the barns and legos farm animals.  So I was giving her the "farm animal quiz" and she nailed it.  I said, "Sophie, show me a horse, pig, cow, sheep.." and she nailed it.  Reid (and Cooper) both went over to participate (basically take over!) and she yelled at them to "back off!!"  This is MY game!!  :)

Tuesday, February 2, 2016

Sophie - 2/2/2016

Sophie ate waffle and two servings of pears for breakfast.  For lunch she ate tuna and crackers, sweet potatoes, and a large serving of mandarin oranges.

In this first picture the doll Sophie is holding actually is Reid's baby "Steven" that he frequently brings from home.  Sophie had it and was telling Reid that she was taking ownership of the baby!  Her explanation consisted of one word!  "Mine, mine mine!"  Ha!  I took this picture when Reid was sweetly explaining the facts to her and she appears to be listening.  Isn't this cute?  Two sweet kids! I like how he's just talking to her and not grabbing his baby.

I have a couple notes from yesterday that I'm going to include in today's Blog.  I put Sophie in her highchair for Lunch and then I was busy getting food on their plates.  She was making some slightly unhappy sounds; "uh, uh, uh...."  What's the matter Sophie?  And then I saw I'd put Hudson's bib on her!  Haha!  Ooops!  Later, Hudson was crawling over to where she was and stopped in front of her. He likes to rock back-n-forth when he's on his hands and knees and he kind of bonked her in the head.  So she basically went with it and got in the same position and they were now head-to-head.  And she intentionally bonked (gently) him a couple of times.  It was pretty cute and funny.

Here's a picture of Sophie doing a little work on the "balance beam" this morning.  (This bench serves many purposes.)  I went to get the camera when she was doing this and of course she was done.  So I asked, "Hey Sophie, will you do that again so I can take a picture?"  And she totally cooperated!!  Thank you Sophie!

Sophie - 2/1/2016

Sophie ate chex cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate beef sandwich, couple sips of tomato soup, and a nibble of pickled beets.  This isn't about Sophie, but at breakfast Reid was taking his last mouthful of mixed fruit and asked, "What are we gonna have for lunch!?"  Haha!  Hudson was already here when Sophie arrived and boy her face just lit up when she saw him!  So cute!

She was having fun with Lauralea like usual!  Lauralea fixed Sophie's hair and then Sophie turned around on Lauralea's lap to face her.  Then the hand signals - taps on the leg means "bounce me and sing to me!"  Ha!

I took a picture of Sophie after the boys had piled blocks all around her.  They took off and were hiding in the igloo and when I took this picture she was wondering "where did those guys go!?"

Sophie tipped one of the yellow benches over and was using it for a reading table.  We read lots of books this morning and she sat beside me on the couch for a long time while we were reading a new Dr. Seuss book.  (Actually it's 6 books in 1.)

Sophie and I were having fun in the swivel/rocker chair.  I was pretending to sit on her while she was laying (just like she is in the picture).  Several minutes later I was walking across the room and she must have thought I was headed for the chair again because she sprinted across the room to get to the chair in front of me!  She sure loves to laugh and have fun.  What a sweetie.
